Kristen + Nick win for most tears 💦 shed at a wedding 🥇

Their love for each other, their families and friends was palpable throughout the entire day.

I often experience people at weddings apologizing for crying or hear them say, “I promised myself I wouldn’t cry”. I always assure them that feeling your emotions is beautiful, important and normal!

So let those tears of joy or sorrow flow!

Greg: [Love means] I want to be with someone all the time.

Brie: "Love is when [you] care for someone and when you make them smile and you give them a hug and tell them you love them. Love is kind."

Did you know anyone can be born with Down syndrome? Today March 21st is the day we shout from the rooftops to raise awareness and teach others about !

The photo series “Love Means” by does just that!

Hilary’s work breaks down stereotypes about people living with exceptionalities.

So here’s a lesson from that we can all practice in our daily lives:

Avoid using stereotypes and generalizations when referring to people with Down syndrome.

People with Down syndrome can experience lots of emotions; they can feel happy, angry, frustrated, excited, or sad.

Some like to sing and dance and others can be shy and quiet.

People with Down syndrome are different sizes and shapes; they can feel and do many of the same things as you!

I’d add don’t put any limits on their potential- do some googling and you’ll find amazing gymnasts, models, students, artists and more!

Matt once memorized Ogden Nash’s poem, Tin Wedding Whistle, to impress me 😉 because he said it reminded him of our relationship.

After hearing about how the pandemic only brought Alessia + Adriano closer together: gourmet meals on the couch, dreaming of their one-day honeymoon on open browser tabs and sharing space to work at home, the poem now reminds me of them too. Here’s an excerpt:

“Though you know it anyhow
Listen to me, darling, now,
Proving what I need not prove
How I know I love you, love.
Near and far, near and far,
I am happy where you are;
Likewise I have never larnt
How to be it where you aren't.
Far and wide, far and wide,

After I screened my film, masters thesis film, Mistissini Healing, my very first documentary professor wrote me a review, “If you keep this up, your films will end up playing in church basements.”
Um, thanks?
Well, I do screen The Survivors, in churches, retirement homes, classrooms, offices, theatres, basically anywhere there are people willing to listen, learn and pursue .
Like said last night, “Reconciliation isn’t a race.”
🧡And we’re in it for the long haul.
Thank you to all our local leaders, friends, members of Central Church and volunteers who made last night happen.

Oh my gourd. I love fall.
I really do, minus the sinus headaches and gross post-nasal drip this season brings, I’ve decided it’s my favourite. 🍁🎃🌻🌽

It’s been hard to find the words to write about my brother, Greg’s, proposal to his soulmate, Brie.

Greg and Brie speak their own secret language, sometimes it’s unspoken, but yet they anticipate each other’s needs and never want to be apart, thank goodness for


They’ve been together for 5 years and look forward to planning their wedding after a long engagement.


Greg, and I worked on every detail of the proposal (inspired by ’s The Descendents, their fav couples movie) right down to scavenging for the perfect dragon 🐉 necklace + figuring out how to hang twinkle lights on this Cambridge landmark…without getting in trouble 😋

When you have a sibling with a disability, like Down Syndrome, there’s always a constant fear in the back of your mind, that they may be rejected by society, taken advantage of or become depressed because of the horrible way people who were different were treated in the not so distant past. It’s hard to express the joy we feel that Greg found a partner to spend his life with.


We are lucky to have a team of support and love surrounding our family always lifting Greggie up and joining with Brie’s family too make an even bigger team is such a blessing.

We’re just two small town {ish} kids living our filmmaking dreams, and all.
We’ve created a freelance, small business lifestyle that works for us, threatened to stamp us out, but we’re hanging in there and holding onto hope for better things, just like so many of you!
We were chatting today about the desires of our hearts and how life has a tendency to distract from our true callings.
You gotta give it everything you got to stay focused, push through the discouraging days and stay true to who you are in order to write a good story for your life. ✨

Dear Artists,
Here we are again. Despair is overflowing in Ontario. We are tired, rundown and angry. Some of us have thrived under the creative limitations we’ve found ourselves in, some of us have crumbled under the pressure and experienced depression, anxiety and illness, and some of us have thrown in the towel, because finances have caused us to take other soul-sucking work during the pandemic purgatory. Wherever you find yourself, it’s okay. We get you.
In the uncertainty we ask ourselves: How can we work when weddings can only have 10 people outdoors? How will we ever pay off the investment we made in our business? Will we be able to thrive in this new world? Etc.
When times get hard, Matt and I ask each other this a lot: what is the alternative to being artists + can we live with that?
There is no alternative to being an artist. We have a higher calling to find beauty where there is none, to create stories to inspire hope and understand humanity, and to form the words others can’t. Art heals.
You are an important piece of the tapestry of humanity. Thank you for being here, continuing to show up, to create, be authentic and to grow.
This week when things get hard, I encourage you: every day, every hour, every minute we need to ask ourselves how can I care for myself right now? Feel your feelings and be kind to others. It’s the only way through.

My brother, Greg, has been on ⭐️tour⭐️showing off the engagement ring her bought last week for his sweet girlfriend, Brie!
Last night, we captured him FaceTiming his bestie to show him the ring + ask him to be his best man (one of many groomsmen because Greggie is Mr. Popular 😋)!
Greg works at + saved for over a year to buy his lady a gorgeous 💎💍 ✨
As for us, COVID has stopped us creating the way we used to and forced us to become more resourceful and creative to capture love stories in a safe and thoughtful way!

Happy Easter Weekend!
For us, Easter means budding tulips in the garden, chocolate from our local shop, always trying to wear our Easter finest when it’s still too cold 🇨🇦 (note the tights 😋), but most importantly it means new beginnings and hope.
We wish you a restful and joy-filled holiday, however you are celebrating!
We’ve got a virtual games night and outdoor socially-distanced fun planned with family, as well as virtual church and a special scavenger hunt for Matt shhhhh 🤫
