Welcome to Sounds Impressive!!! STORY has become a very important buzz word of the 21st Century. Why now you ask? Haven’t stories always existed since the beginning of time? Yes, you are right! There have always been storybooks to read, stories to watch, from the stage or the screen. But I believe we have entered into a much different era of storytelling. We have become more accustomed to using the concept of stories to work for us, allowing them to create visuals of our messages and help us to market our agenda’s and businesses.
But not everyone is comfortable with their stories being published or posted for public scrutiny. Even for business purposes, we still tend to hold back from revealing too much of our personal image. I understand this fear, even within myself, I find it much easier to help others identify with their own story. Being willing to offer tidbits of my experiences in a one-on-one conversation is alright, but to purposefully make the details of my stories stand out, well, hold on...... that for sure requires stepping outside the comfort zone a little bit further than even I had planned. We relish our privacy, so do I really need to tell my story?
Why are we so concerned about hearing each other’s stories anyway? I believe simply because we are human, and humans are social creatures. We love to identify with one another, somehow it helps us to know that we are not the only ones having this experience, someone else can actually understand what we are going through. It also enables us to express empathy or gratitude and our stories help us to celebrate. There are many ways to tell our stories and unknowingly we do it every day, through speech and written word. Parts of our stories exist inside our resumes & bio's, some of us write poetry, we publish books, we create films, some engage in public speaking, others pour their stories out through the lyrics of songs. Stories sell us! In business, people are more interested in who they are buying from, then often the product itself. So we need to show a little of our story through our marketing messages when we advertise our businesses, and we do this through our flyers, business cards, social media posts, even on billboards or in commercials. Our stories are about our Life! They are the very reason we wake every morning, we live to tell another story in the days of our lives. Our whole life can be equivilated to a book, each year a chapter, each page a month, each verse a day or an experience. It’s your book, you get to write it any way you chose because “ iT’s Your Life “ !!!
