Woo hoo! Nurse! a Memoir by Francene Cosman made it to the best seller tree this week at the Partridge Island Publishing shop at the container village in Saint John. The book is set in Saint John so it's obviously a good choice! Fingers crossed it stays there :)

It's Wednesday. There are some new books on the tree this week and a few are back after a little break.

Competition is fierce this year with so many new titles. Congratulations to the authors on the tree.

Something I've been working towards for a while is an online shop :) All of our accessible ebooks will now be available to purchase directly from OC Publishing, thereby cutting out another layer of distribution, and getting more $$$ into the hands of our authors :) Thanks to the hard work of lead designer, David Edelstein, all ebooks published by OC Publishing moving forward will be 'born accessible' as a Global Certified Accessible Publisher. There are three titles certified now - Nurse! A Memoir by Francene Cosman, Shanti Fights for Her Rights by Marcia E. Barss, and By the Light of the Crescent Moon my Ailsa Keppie. I got a little behind on this month's bookversaries this holiday week but don't want to miss celebrating our OC Pub author's milestones. So...Happy 1st Bookversary to Elizabeth M. Gales!! So true! A very happy place :)

Most of our customers have told me at one point or another that Dartmouth Book Exchange is their happy place. Who can blame them? We are surrounded by books. Great condition paperbacks, hardcovers, and trade paperbacks. Teas inspired by classic literature. Even a collector’s edition a time or two. Book bundles, boxed sets, bookmarks, and canvas totes. A treasure trove for book lovers. Friendly customer service is always the utmost priority. It is a great place to visit, wander down aisles, or spend the afternoon on a rainy day. Attending our events is a guaranteed good time, with discussions about local books, their authors, and future projects.

On the next Author Journey, we are pleased to have indie author, Amanda Crewe, following the release of her debut novel, Of Peat Moss + Prayers. Amanda is originally from Cape Breton but is now based in Halifax and works as an osteopath, while raising two children...and fitting in writing somewhere in between! A real inspiration :)

Her book, a coming home story set in an Acadian village neslted at the foot of the Highlands where the main character, Leanna, once called home, is a "searing, heart-wrenching journey of discovery," according to reviewer Beatrice MacNeil.
