I've made a lot of scary decisions in my business. Probably the biggest one was THE PIVOT.

At first I pushed it down, kicked it, threw it, smashed it, ignored it, tossed it, tried to ignore it. But it kept coming back. It basically consumed my every thought!

After 27 years of 1:1 website design work, I was pivoting to being a tech coach! This was one month before the pandemic hit. Things have drastically changed since then and instead of panicking, I went with the flow. I help solopreneurs get setup on an email marketing platform, teach them how to setup their welcome sequences, write their campaigns, setup automations. Add to that is my obsession with prompt engineering. For me it’s all about tech…I love that part of it. You know what’s scary? I still can’t figure out TikTok!

It's important for you as a solopreneurs not to rely solely on social media for your business marketing - who hasn’t experienced platform shutdown or being blocked out of their account at some point? By including email marketing as part of your strategy, it can be a game-changer since you have full control over your email lists.

Here are three strategies to integrate email marketing into your business:

1. Offer a Valuable Lead Magnet:
Using a free graphics tool like Canva, you can create a valuable resource (like an e-book, checklist, or exclusive content) that your target audience would love. Offer this "lead magnet" in exchange for their email address using another free tool called MailerLite. This way, you can grow your email list with genuinely interested subscribers who will likely be receptive to your future marketing efforts.

2. Nurture Relationships with a Welcome Sequence:
Once someone joins your email list, send them a series of welcome emails to introduce yourself, share more about your business, and showcase your products or services. A well-crafted welcome sequence helps you build a strong connection with your audience, increasing the likelihood of them becoming loyal customers. Automating this is key. Sometimes No is a blessing in disguise. Do you agree?

Me: "Can I go run Little Joe?” (my Pinto horse, I wasn’t allowed to run him without supervision)

Mom/Dad: "No. he’s too big and you’ll get hurt"

I hated that word for the longest time!! But over the years I've learned to appreciate it.

They never knew, but I did run him once, and he was going so fast, he jumped over a ground hog hole and knocked me off. When I walked him home, I blamed it on a snake that spooked him. I never ran my horse EVER AGAIN.

Now, as a solopreneur, I've learned to appreciate caution and take things one step at a time. It's important to evaluate the risks and not jump into things blindly, just like I should have listened to my parents and not run Little Joe. So, take a moment to think before you act, and remember: sometimes, slow and steady wins the race.
