The Lakes Resort - Cape Breton has a Junior Invitational event coming up on July 9th at 10am! It is a great tournament and opportunity for all golfers under the age of 18! Registration includes green fees, a light lunch and prizes! If you’re over the age of 18 don’t worry because they have an event coming up for you too! Jack and Jill 9 & Dine will be taking place on July 13th at 5:30pm! This event will have mixed men’s, ladies and senior divisions and is followed by dinner and prizes, plus a chip off challenge in the orchard after the round!

Undercurrent Youth Centre is holding a Second Chance Market Fundraiser at 224 York Street in Glace Bay! The entire centre is transformed into a market with so many items! They have books, decorations, household items, crystal, collectables, home decor, toys, clothing and so much more! All money raised will go toward programming for kids and youth in the area. The market is taking place July 5th, 6th and 7th from 12pm-5pm with entry by donation, so make sure to check it out!

I’m at the kickoff of Makin’ Waves at Wentworth Park, which is also the 10th anniversary of Makin’ Memories here in Cape Breton! It’s so amazing to see the community come together in one place to support local artists! Victoria Macdougall performed 3 of her beautiful original songs, up next the incredible Barra MacNeils along with songwriter Joe H Henry. I was blown away at all the talent and support, and if you missed it this week, don’t worry because you can stop by next Thursday at 6pm and check it out!

I can't remember the last time I laughed as hard as I did this morning. Teddy Morrison was my co-host today on New Country 103.5's Interesting Cape Bretoners!

Teddy is a retired teacher. He only has one hand but he never let that stop him from playing pretty much any sport growing up. He told me the funniest story about one time when he was skiing and his artificial hand that was battery operated, died and got stuck on the T-Bar. His description had me laughing so hard I thought I was going to wet myself.

Teddy has never let his disability get the best of him, and his love for life is apparent. He and his wife Mary recently celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary

Teddy Morrison will be my co-host tomorrow morning on New Country 103.5's Interesting Cape Bretoners!

Teddy never let anyone tell him he couldn’t do the things he wanted to do in life, especially play sports. Despite only having one hand, the Glace Bay native grew up playing various sports as a child, including baseball, softball, slopitch, hockey, basketball, volleyball, badminton and golf. While his disability was known, he says that nobody treated him any different, but rather encouraged him to be involved like the rest of the children.
