Stayed up past my bedtime last night but it was worth it for the Wayback Festival in downtown Kitchener. Headliner Tom Cochrane did not disappoint!

This is Mike Reeves, aka "Moose." You may have heard him on the show before. He drives the bus for the Kitchener Rangers and has kept us safe on winter roads and long northern trips for years. Last night, we enjoyed some off-season time in better weather. Of course, we went to Moose Winooski's and drank Moosehead.
Tony Little convinced me on a TV infomercial that this contraption would give me six-pack abs. Yes, I bought it. No, I did not get six-pack abs.

Took the time on the weekend to pop in to Della vanDokkumburg's pop-up store in Carl Zehr Square at Kitchener City Hall. So glad I did! It's like a treasure trove of local places and Della has just released a new book about some of the city's most famous kitchens. We'll be talking about it on the show this morning at 11:30.

From our show on June 27th to a gold medal at the U16 world ball hockey championships in Slovakia. Congratulations to Brock Schaus, Matt Leitch, Brody Straus, and Redden Hart of Kitchener! These local players helped Team Canada to a 6-5 overtime win over the host team from Slovakia this weekend, and are bringing the gold back home. Brock was named the MVP goaltender of the tournament. Matt told us on the show that if they didn't win gold, they'd have to come home by boat! Hope they enjoyed the flight...

Happy Monday! Hope you had a great weekend. Mine included a short motorcycle ride to Dorking, in search of ice cream. I didn't know Dorking Groceries was cash only but the woman scooping my cone said it didn't matter if I couldn't pay, I could just leave my name and number and pay them the next time I was passing through. As if that wasn't generous enough, another woman who was now in line said she would pay for my ice cream. In fact, she insisted. She said when she moved to nearby Gowanstown, someone did the same thing for her and she wanted to pay it forward. So, not only did I have free ice cream on Saturday, but I met some of the nicest people around! A small gesture of kindness can really make you feel good about people, and the place you live. Make it a great week in this wonderful place we call home!
