"The concept here in Sarnia is to work with community partners to get it off the ground. “We have met with many potential partners and have received a lot of positive feedback for this initiative.” Continues McCann. When speaking with the Mayor and City Staff about this initiative they seemed to want to get behind it and also realize a by-law change will need to happen in order to make Tiny Homes a reality. "Three and a half years after a motion closed Jackson Pool for repairs, the motion proposed to Sarnia Council to decommission Jackson Outdoor Pool and develop an outdoor splash pad was replaced with a new motion by Bill Dennis to apply for federal infrastructure funding to refurbish or rebuild Jackson Pool on a space in Germain Park. In a 5-4 recorded vote supported by Councillors Dennis, White, Bird, Boushy and Mayor Bradley, the motion was passed."

"I along with other concerned community members created The Save Jackson Pool group back in 2017 and have been advocating to have a pool remain at the Germain Park location instead of the proposed Splash Pad. We took it upon ourselves to start this grass roots Facebook group in 2017 because what we were hearing in the community and on social media confirmed what we thought… the majority of the people wanted a second outdoor pool option."

Like the Olympic rings, all these issues are combined, and Canadian communities are struggling to deal with both the short and long term impacts of the significant increase in these issues. Do you want to see and hear your Sarnia Lambton federal election candidates before you vote this October?

Each candidate of the 5 main parties were contacted to complete on camera interviews for voters prior to the 2019 Canadian Federal Election. With the exception of Marilyn Gladu, all candidates agreed to be recorded answering questions about their party's platform. Tune in October 7th when videos are made available online for all residents to see their candidates before they cast their ballots.
