Sheree is thrilled that the good folks at United for Literacy Atlantic Canada / Littératie Ensemble Canada Atlantique have organized a fun family day at Mabel Murple's Book Shoppe & Dreamery on August 17th.

Book giveaways, literacy games, and arts and crafts. And two local authors, Camilla from Sunnyside Self Wellness and Michelle Robinson - Children's Author. And who knows ... maybe Great Granny Gertie Green will show up.

* The Book Shoppe remains closed indefinitely, but Mabel is excited to share her Dreamery for this special event.

This Friday at 7:30 PM under the big white Caladh Marquee tent on the Pictou Waterfront, the Pictou Lobster Carnival presents a free show with Leah & Kyle (https://www.facebook.com/leahandkyle) and Logan Edward MacKay (https://www.facebook.com/Edwardplaysmusic) sharing the stage!

Although the show is free upon arrival to the tent, everyone who donates $5 or more will receive an entry into the door prizes that will include Lobster Carnival 90th merchandise or even a chance at one pair of tickets to the Gordie McKeeman & His Rhythm Boys on July 24th! We'll also be doing a 50/50!

Mark your calendars for sheep shearing day at Lismore Sheep Farm on Sunday July 21st!

These girls are definitely ready for shearing day happening on Sunday July 21, 10 -3. We will be shearing all day and you are invited to come and watch. It is all part of River John Festival Days happening next week. On Sunday there will be demonstrations of spinning, felting, rug hooking knitting, and weaving. You can try some felting and go home with your own picture. The barbeques will be fired up with our own lamb sausages so a good chance to try some local NS lamb. The wool shop will be open and there are some talented crafters selling their wares as well. Come and spend the day on the north shore.

Lavender in full bloom is definitely a picture perfect moment!

[Drumroll, please…] THE LAVENDER IS NOW IN FULL BLOOM!! 😊
If you’ve been thinking of making a trip to Seafoam Lavender, NOW is the very best time to do so (through early August). Our lavender is particularly spectacular this year and we hope you’ll come see it in person. Our Pollinator Gardens are also in bloom, so maybe you'll spot some butterflies and dragonflies? It’s totally free to visit and reservations are not necessary – just come any time between the hours of 12:00 noon and 5:00 pm.
