The privilege of looking the other way. This has been a very heavy week and I have heard many say that it is simply too much. They need to turn it off and tune out. I understand. But I know the privilege in this. I spoke with one of my makeup artists this week about Afghanistan. She does not have the privilege of tuning out.
Having once escaped the grips of the Taliban herself, she still has family left behind and is very fearful for their lives--especially the girls and women.
