Last night, we hosted our Sociable! Nova Scotia meetup in London, England.

And we found a few Nova Scotians now living there who wanted to share a drink and talk about Home! What a turnout!!

Nothing makes you prouder to be a Nova Scotian than being in a room like this. Nova Scotians and NS alumni living around the world are such a special group of people.

It was an absolute privilege to host them all in London for a fun night that ended up going three hours over schedule (yes, the pub had to kick us out….classic Bluenosers 🤣)

Watch for more events later this year in Toronto, San Francisco and Boston!

Come From Away should be a badge of honour.

This is something Rachel Sumner and I firmly agree on!

When Rachel and her family decided to leave England for a life in Canada, it was a 48 hour trip to Halifax that immediately told them Nova Scotia was where their journey needed to begin.

Now based in Toronto, Rachel joins the show to talk about how much her time in Nova Scotia has impacted her identity and sense of belonging in Canada.

We’re throwing some love at Bedford this week!

Our guest is Amsterdam-based Bluenoser KaraLynn Lewis who grew up in this iconic “Traditional Stopping Place”!

She tells us about her love for The Chicken Burger restaurant, the growth she sees in her hometown on every trip home, and what led to her decision to leave Nova Scotia.

The smell of salty ocean air signals that you’re Home.

It hits you the minute you step off the plane at Halifax Stanfield. Suddenly, every sense wakes up to the fact that you are HOME!

Halifax’s own Will Wong talks about that and so much more in today’s episode!

From helping serve up delicious food at his family’s restaurant on Bedford Row to helping deliver packages around the world with eCommerce accelerator Spreetail in Nebraska, Will has seen and done a lot - but Nova Scotia stays with him at every stop!

Check out our chat and find out how a Halifax kid ended up in Nebraska!

Break out the headphones or turn up the speakers, because it’s new episode day!

Dr. Maria Gallo is what I call a Bluenoser-by-choice. Raised in Ontario and now living in Ireland, she also keeps Nova Scotia close at heart by living in the province for two months every year. That’s dedication!

Learn why/how Nova Scotia has become a core part of Maria’s identity. And yes, Firefighter Breakfasts certainly help 😁

Dallas, you have been amazing!

Last night, we hosted the first ever Sociable! Kitchen Party for the Global Bluenosers community.

It wasn’t just a room full of Nova Scotians living in Dallas. It was also a room full of pride for the province, laughter, meaningful connections, and a excitement that I can’t properly describe.

It was simply amazing!

So, Dallas has proved a point. If you take to the road and ask Bluenosers to come together, they will absolutely respond.

Just make sure you bring some lobster too 😂

ONE MONTH COUNTDOWN!!

On the night of October 19, a group of Nova Scotians and NS alumni living in Dallas will come together for drinks, snacks and music.

It’s all about meeting your Nova Scotia community right there in Dallas!

The especially fun part is that Mahone Bay’s Lobster Made Easy will be there with their Lobster Shack on wheels to serve up legit Nova Scotia lobster rolls, snow crab and maybe even some Texas-inspired menu additions!

If you haven’t grabbed your free ticket yet, head over to sociabledallas.eventbrite.com to sign up!

Or, if you have friends/family living near Dallas who deserve a little bit of Nova Scotia in their life, tag th below or send them that event link!

I can’t wait to get down to Dallas and meet everyone. The reception has already been amazing with 45 people signed up.

Let’s push it past 50 Nova Scotians - Dallas won’t know what hit them 🤣

There’s something indescribable about talking to Nova Scotians living away from the province.

A sense of pure joy when they talk about this place that I know from experience but just can’t describe.

That joy is exactly what you’ll hear in today’s episode featuring Toby Schwartz of East Chezzetcook!

This was such an enjoyable conversation and absolutely reinforced why hosting this podcast means so much to me.

His address might say Calgary, but for Mark Star, Nova Scotia will always be Home!

This proud Bluenoser, hailing from Cole Harbour, joins Sean for a chat about the province that defines Mark.

Along the way, we learn about his ideal day of food (spoiler…lots of lobster and Donair 😂), why he became a Calgary Flames fan, and how he has stayed connected to Home for all these years.

It’s episode drop day! 🎉🎉

Today’s episode is absolutely perfect for any people that eat food (😜)!

Kate Bray grew up in the Annapolis Valley and now lives in London. Along the way, she has definitely become a true foodie - so while we have lots of other great stories in this episode, there are LOTS of restaurant, food and drinks recommendations from Kate!

If you’re looking for the next great culinary experience in Nova Scotia, this is the episode for you!

Have you signed up for our Dallas meetup??

Last night we crossed over the 30 Bluenoser mark for number of people who have grabbed their free ticket!

This event is all about helping people living in Dallas (and elsewhere in Texas!) to find their community of Nova Scotians living right there in their backyard.

Come on out for a fun night of food, drinks, East Coast music and networking. It’ll be a little piece of Nova Scotia in the Lone Star State!

(And please share with friends or family you know who are living in Texas!)

I’m beyond excited to share that Global Bluenosers now has an OFFICIAL luggage partner!

And of course, it’s a Nova Scotia company that I have a ton of respect for and whose products I’ve been buying for years.

Welcome to the Global Bluenosers family, Parlee Manufacturing Company Ltd.!!

Over the past few years, I’ve been getting to know Glenn Parlee and the Liverpool, Nova Scotia-based team of Parlee Manufacturing. And with each interaction, I love their company more and more.

Everything made to the highest standard. Everything handmade right here in Nova Scotia.

We have some exciting ideas to work on together and are eager to share those with you when the time is right.

In the meantime, check out their online store to order your own luggage, backpack or outdoor gear that will likely last a lifetime! Or do what I did and stop by Liverpool Adventure Outfitters Ltd. to grab your Parlee product in-person (and yes, I got it monogrammed with my initials 😂)!

Support this wonderful local business that has been equipping Nova Scotians with quality gear since 1985!

We’re back tomorrow after a week off!

Frankfurt-based Natalie Erb joins the show tomorrow and this sentiment from the conversation is one I’ve heard from so many people who have left the Maritimes.

Are you following Global Bluenosers on your favourite podcast app? If not, go do that now and you’ll never miss our latest episodes (or when we drop bonus content 😉)

Taking a little break this week and will not be publishing a new episode. However! I’m encouraging everyone to send in any questions you have for me!

I’d love to do a short episode answering your questions - can be about the show, about Nova Scotia, about being a rookie podcaster, or just what my favourite snack is! - whatever your burning question about Global Bluenosers, drop it in the comments or send a DM!

Moon Mist 🌈🍦

Our wonderful Nova Scotian flavour is all grown up and taking Toronto by storm!

What’s your favourite spot to get a cone of our provincial ice cream when you’re back in Nova Scotia??

Its arrival is great news for many locals, but for transplanted East Coasters like myself feels bittersweet.

Today’s episode sounds a little different! Why?

Because it was recorded in a cafe in rural Nova Scotia!

Neil MacKinnon now lives in Augusta, Georgia where he’s Provost at Augusta University. But at his core, Neil will always be at his core, the community-focused, Donair-loving, beach-combing, friendly Nova Scotian that anyone who knows him will describe.

Find this episode to stream right on globalbluenosers.ca or anywhere that you regularly listen to podcasts!
