Virgo Rising’s long-awaited sophomore EP, Vampyre Year, has arrived. ♜♠♞
Out of a period of friction came a remarkable transformation for Virgo Rising. It’s been three years since the band recorded their beloved debut Sixteenth Sapphire, a delicate bedroom-pop EP heralded as “a complex web of light put to tape” (Kaelen Bell, @exclaimdotca). Their path seemed clear: the buzz was strong, their new material was going over well with audiences, and a follow-up seemed like an easy slam-dunk.
But Virgo Rising is of that venerated school of thought in which an artist’s job is to plumb their depths in search of something new; repeating themselves, while the easier option, was out of the question. And so, they raced down an emotionally fraught path to delicately deconstruct their sound and build it up from scratch. The result: bedroom-pop is out, replaced by a haunting, wooden folk and a searing indie rock that seems poised to outshine their celebrated debut.

“Tristan is a loud, cathartic rock song, and a messy chant about the boy I would’ve been,” says Emily Sinclair, lead singer of Virgo Rising.
Tristan has been a reliable fan favourite for years, and its recording finally arrives today via House of Wonders Records. It’s the second single from the band’s forthcoming EP Vampyre Year, out October 13.
The single is out now on streaming services everywhere, and pre-orders for Vampyre Year cassettes are also available.

The second single from Amos the Kid's highly anticipated debut album has arrived. "World Burn" could be said to showcase the indie-country band in its purest form; slyly optimistic, deceptively simple, and sporting a chorus as vast as a prairie sunset. Their debut LP, Enough as it Was, arrives May 5.

Yesterday, Adam’s band @yeswemystic released their final album Trust Fall. Yes We Mystic is where Adam learnt everything he knows about recording and putting out records, House of Wonders would not exist without this band. Trust Fall was recorded here over 36 days last fall, and includes performances from a bunch of House of Wonders alumni, including @virgorisingmusic, @_foldpaper_, @oliwanthahomie, @goralugosi, @brian.gluck, @jordancayer and more. Take a listen at the link in bio. ♥️
Adam’s band @yeswemystic announced their third and final record today, and that record was made via a secret 36-day recording session at House of Wonders last fall (it was hard to keep a secret).
The first single, Long Dream, is out now!
The new @carlocapobianco stuff is getting pretty wild
Jamboree's Life in the Dome is out now.
Life in the Dome is a record about navigating isolation, so perhaps it was always meant to be released during one of the most dissonant periods of the pandemic.

JAMBOREE's new single 'Quebec' is out today — it's a near-absurdist take on a theme familiar to those from the prairies; seemingly everyone's desire to move someplace else.

Jamboree - The Snow
Today I'm pleased to announce the newest signing to House of Wonders Records: Jamboree.
I admire how this band approaches music-making as an all-around artistic endeavour, while retaining a sense of humour and ease. Their music is nimble and hooky and heartfelt and meaningful, and wait until you see 'em live!
Their new single "The Snow" is out now, and their new album "Life in the Dome" is available for preorder, both at the link below:
