Today marks what would have been Premier John Buchanan's 90th birthday. Elected as Nova Scotia's 20th Premier in 1978, he served in the role until 1990 after winning four majority governments for the PCs.

Buchanan was appointed to the Senate in 1990 and served there until 2006. He passed away at age 88 on October 3, 2019. Happy birthday, Premier.
