This week on “Atlantic Showcase” we are featuring:
“ Callahan ”

With Callehan it’s all about the story. Grab a beer and pull up to the campfire. Tony Trimper loves weaving a tale; sharing stories of the past, encourage inquisitive minds, and help everyone ‘have as much fun as we do!’ Tony’s great Irish grandmother, Kathleen O’Callahan passed roughly when he was conceived. His grandfather always thought she was still here as Tony. Callehan’s excited about a new release! Two tracks - so why not imagine two sides? Side A: ‘The Four Winds’ featuring Ashley MacIsaac, tells of a mystical pirate ship captained by ol devil. The old man roams the seas offering any heart’s desire in exchange for a soul. What is yours worth? Side B: ‘Ignore History’ and we are bound to repeat it. Let’s agree to disagree and move forward as society, as community. Let’s hear one another over a pint. ‘The world needs a damn beer!’ Callehan never worried about fitting a genre. Basically it’s drinking music!

This week on “Atlantic Showcase” we are featuring:
“q u i e t h i l l”

From the heart of Dartmouth Nova Scotia, q u i e t h i l l blends soul & rock, creating a sound that is hard to define. q u i e t h i l l is the musical musings on life and love from front person, Jacquie Thillaye.
Thillaye was a regular performer in Toronto’s Queen St. West scene of the ‘80s before stepping away following the birth of two sons. She returned to her birthplace of Halifax to raise them. They grew to be musical, and when they flew the coop she realized how much she missed the music. Not just theirs, but her own. With more of life to inspire her, Thillaye started to write again and twenty+ years of songs and stories began to spill.
Thillaye was joined early on by Dave "guitar cat" Johnson (guitar), and Henry "bass man" Taylor (bass). Multi-musician Mike Robinson (keys & trombone) joined a few years in, bringing a smooth jazz-influenced vibe. Jason Loppie (drums) is the most recent addition, locking in with Taylor to bring a rich soul & funk energy.

“Troy Alistair” and “Alec Robertson”

Troy Alistair

With driving drum beats, catchy hooks, and relatable lyrical content, Halifax-based group, Troy Alistair, is coming in swinging with captivating and energetic performances, blurring the lines between rock, pop, funk, and rap genres. Focusing on growth, self-reflection and finding happiness in a sometimes dark world, their recent EP release, Flares, keeps things thematically diverse while remaining pleasingly cohesive, described by Brandon Lorimer from The East as a band with "eclectic sounds" and an "unmistakable" style.

Alec Robertson

Alec Robertson started playing and writing music thanks to his guitar teacher Jamie Junger (pronounced Younger) in 2007. He started Elora's Garden with Alec Bloch in 2019 but his first solo show was night kitchen in Wolfville hosted by Ross Chapman in 2020, and he began pursuing a solo career seriously in 2022.

This week on “Atlantic Showcase” we are featuring:
“Casual Cries For Help” and “CED MARTY & DAVE”

“Casual Cries For Help”
“Fun, Unique and Spunky
”
Once upon a time, four misfit musicians decided to get together and jam live on stage. Realizing they had something special, they decided to form a killer sounding pop band straight out of the early 2000s with infectious melodies, beautiful harmonies, funky basslines and never-ending good times.

They have been described as a mix between Hall & Oates and Michael Jackson and have played all over the Downtown Halifax scene with artists like Cory Writes, Jordan Croucher and even opening for Sean Kingston when he was in Nova Scotia for his “Made in Jamaica” Canadian Tour. They’ve released two EPs, “GOOD VIBES ONLY” and “FUN TIME SNACK” and are currently in the process of working on their debut album.

“CED MARTY & DAVE”

2017 ECMA award winners CED MARTY & DAVE are a fan favorite with their repertoire of Blues, Ballads, and R&B. Their blends of original and classic blues songs arranged in their own unique style utilizing Guitar, Cajon, and Harmonica. Inspired by Howling Wolf, Robert Johnson, Eric Clapton and others they cover but never copy.

IYARI is a Rapper, Singer and Composer from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada who has been active on the scene since 2014. Known for her original songwriting styles and meaningful verses, she has been compared to early 90's rappers and has boasted a truly unique, "East Coast" sound. Her songs, which she writes and records herself, are often acoustically-driven, and are true-to-life stories about love, loss and learning to grow beyond tragedy. Nothing fabricated here. This is raw, emotional music that means something. Even though IYARI is no stranger to the East Coast Hip-Hop scene, she continues to grow and develop her music to reach new audiences. She has shared the stage with notable Canadian and International rappers including Reef The Lost Cause, Robbie G., Fortunato, Spesh K, Kid Coffin, J Bru and Cronic. “Side Hustle” & “Maurice Aucoin”

Barstools and Bandtalk was a labour of love from Sean McKenna, originally designed to be a great distraction during the Pandemic, it grew exponentially to become a pivotal part of musicianship and comradery in Nova Scotia and around the world. Many off-shoots evolved, not the least of which was a call for a “House Band” which Sean imagined several different ways until fate dropped Michelle Ryder into a rehearsal and the concept was solidified. He was going to build a Showband supergroup based around Michelle’s abilities. The search began, it evolved a few times, before they were sure thee formula was right and from that process, came the Current Side Hustle Band with heavy hitters with many years of experience. The culmination has been well received with sold out shows and opening for touring bands from away. You won’t be disappointed!.
