"Loss of natural gas on O'Chiese First Nation
Regarding Spartan Delta"

Good morning everyone,

I just wanted to keep everyone informed about our loss of natural gas on the nation.

On May 16th Spartan Delta was performing some routine maintenance changing a valve out on there system. Spartan Delta had installed a bypass to ensure no gas disruption would occur to the nation, however during their maintenance one of there operators had “accidentally” closed the main valve feeding the nation. Because of operating pressures and the distance of the pipeline it took approximately 24 hours to bleed the system to the point where there is no gas and hence went unnoticed till gas had actually run out. I was notified at 8:00 this morning of no gas on the nation, at which time I had contacted the plant Operator directly informing him of our situation. Looking at his system he showed that the line feeding us was pressurized and that the valves he controlled from the plant were open. Spartan Delta then sent an operator out to confirm and the operator on his checks then realized that the valve was closed that feeds the nation. Gas supply was restored at approximately 8:30 this morning, however it will take several hours to repressurize the system.

We are currently monitoring the status and once there is enough pressure Utilities and Plumbing will be working together to relight all appliances on the nation.
