When I first started You Enjoy My Designs, alongside helping clubs, events and brands support, promote and grow their disc golf mission, one of my goals was to launch my own creative design merch line.

Between working closely with Kat Johnson Kat Throws Discs on the commentary for Canadian Disc Golf Products and on the admin for Toronto Women’s Disc Golf club, over the last month, Kat and I have had many opportunities to talk about how she can use good digital and design to support, promote and grow her disc golf brand.

Although it’s in your face and tells you exactly what to expect from the work I produce and from my brand, the name You Enjoy My Designs is actually inspired by a Phish song called You Enjoy Myself.
One of my favourite songs, from one of my favourite jam bands.

Let me get real for a second. One of the main reasons my business has been successful is because of the support of the disc golf community. But before there were fans and followers, there was also family.
And my biggest supporter?
That was my mom.
She believed in me before I believed in myself.
So I’d like to take this opportunity to say…
The work I do at You Enjoy My Designs is dedicated in honoured memory to my mother, Lina Chartrand.
Her compassionate spirit and kind soul continues to inspire the work I do every day at You Enjoy My Designs. She lived to help others and I hope the work I do, the resources I share, and the services I provide the disc golf community will help guide others in supporting, promoting and growing their disc golf communities. Thank you for being my biggest fan and proudest supporter, especially in the early days.”
Tomorrow would have been your 63rd birthday.
That’s why April 14th is officially a holiday at the You Enjoy My Designs office.

❤️You Enjoy My Designs x Glenaladale Disc Golf❤️
After 13 years in the game, one of the things I love the most about the sport of disc golf is its ability to create connections between players locally and beyond.
So when Josh Coles from the Glenaladale Disc Golf team in Prince Edwards Island reached out to help the for their local community, I was over the moon excited to spread my sparrow wings to disc golf on the east coast! 😍
During this project, I worked closely with Josh and team to bring their visual brand to life.
They had pretty specific visuals already established (think stencil / camp esthetic) and expressed wanting the final product to capture their existing vibe.
We even used some of their existing elements (stencil tree’s) in the final brand logo design!

❤️You Enjoy My Designs Story - Meet “Jess Sparrow”❤️
Hi there. I’m Jess aka Sparrow – PDGA #56416.
I’m a digital design expert, brand marketing specialist and the one woman show behind You Enjoy My Designs. I’m also a disc golfer from Toronto, Ontario with over 13 years in the game.
The love of disc golf started on a wintery day in South River (Near North Bay), Ontario, Canada and I was instantly hooked. Not only did I enjoy the sport of it, what really got me hooked was the camaraderie and fellowship formed that day.
My journey includes a handful of aces and a highlight moment of playing a round with Elaine King on Toronto Island back in 2011.

When it comes to digital and design for all things disc golf, some of my core philosophies at You Enjoy My Designs revolves around professionalism in the presentation and communication to help elevate the player experience.
Whether it’s a player, a customer or a fan, their experience is extremely important and should come first. That includes how they interact with your brand, the messaging you choose and ease of access to important club, course, event, brand, business or community information.
Ultimately, when your disc golf digital looks professional, it brings heightened awareness to your disc golf event. Not to mention, when it looks PRO you get treated like one. Sponsors will be more likely to get on board, players will be more likely to participate and people from outside the disc golf community start to take notice.
So when and from approached me to help with the I was thrilled to help.
And with the being heavily featured as a partner throughout the event, this was an amazing opportunity to use a digital and design first approach to level up the player experience for the Toronto Open Disc Golf Festival.

As promised, here is the full reveal of the artwork for the 2023 Toronto Tag Tour Designs.
💡The idea?
Create designs that reflect one of the signature holes on each of the Toronto courses.
Sorted in descending order by course difficulty, each design has 50 numbers associated with it so players can enjoy an ever changing and evolving Tag. Bag. Brag experience as they move up the leader board on their hunt for the #1 spot.

I’ve been working closely with Jacob Kennedy] Jacob Kennedy at Tee3dg to create inspired bag tag designs for the upcoming Toronto Tag Tour season kicking off tomorrow, Saturday March 18th at Dentonia Park during the Toronto Open Disc Golf Festival presented by ChainLink Disc Golf ChainLink Disc Golf]
These tag feature designs representing each of the 7 different disc golf courses in Toronto, AND provide a truly unique experience for the player as they climb the ladder to that #1 leaderboard spot.
Above all, they are a huge nod of appreciation and inspiration for the work Paul Belyea has done over the years with the OD Tour. Thank you for unknowingly shaping the work I do every day at You Enjoy My Designs. Much love always ❤️

💫You Enjoy My Designs - Website Relaunch💫
Since launching You Enjoy My Designs in 2021, my business has evolved in ways I never thought possible.
I went from supporting local businesses to niching into all things disc golf.
My client base extended from Toronto, to Prince Edward Island, Colorado and California!
Most importantly, one time design projects have evolved into long lasting relationships within the disc golf community and beyond.
And with that growth has come… The Evolution Of The You Enjoy My Designs Website.🌿
Often pieced together by a need to adapt and evolve, I was always unhappy with the finished product. Although I can have a clear vision for my clients, I definitely struggled with producing the same quality of work for myself.
I guess that’s the digital designer curse. When you know you can whip up another site anytime, the foundations for a good digital and design strategy sometimes take a back seat in favour of the latest trend.
Taking the “practise what you preach” approach, I finally put myself through the EXACT steps I use for all of my client website builds.
That meant creating a consistent brand message that connects with my community.
Finding ways to best feature my services and portfolio of work.
While also establishing a clear vision for the future growth of You Enjoy My Designs.

From the way your club is represented visually, to the way you communicate with your players, good digital and brand design can create meaningful connections and leave strong lasting impressions within the #discgolf community, and beyond. My approach to digital for disc golf is this: 1 - The player experience is extremely important and should come first. That includes branding, messaging, and ease of access to club, course, or event information! 2 - Equally as important is getting the community involved and feeling like they are part of the club or event, even from their couch. 3 - When your disc golf digital looks professional, you will ultimately attract more sponsorships. More sponsorship means more cash prizes and boosted payouts. 4 - Not everyone who wants to support your disc golf club, event, or brand will be a disc golfer. You can use creative design and branding strategies to generate revenue from outside the disc golf community. Remember, design is more than how it looks, it's also how it works. In this video, I’m going to break down the two basic types of video thumbnail designs and how you could use them for your disc golf video content! NATURAL THUMBNAIL ART Natural thumbnail cover art is a screenshot taken directly from the video. For this style, I always recommend using a silly face, or funny pose. Any shot that has motion behind it, like a wave or hand gestures. The strategy behind natural thumbnail art is that it makes you feel like a real person to your online audience. This type of cover art is best used by personal brands. After all, people fall in love with you, then your business. DESIGNED THUMBNAIL ART This type of thumbnail art is used to provide additional information to the community before they even hit that play button and is often used by brands to organize content visually. This style of design also captures the attention of the skimmer readers, or scrollers! A good example of this in action is the recent Toronto Island Maple Leaf 2020 @timl_ca videos released by True North Disc Golf Productions @truenorthdiscgolfproductions . Their cover art includes: Tournament logo, name and year The division, round number and front or back Sponsor logos Names of the players on the card And… one of the card mates is featured as the background to create that engaging motion and depth I’ve been talking about. I’m going to break down each phase of the disc golf video and dive into the strategy behind the content structure. At the end, I’ll go through an example to pull it all together! START Start by explaining in 1-2 sentences on the video topic. This should be well-crafted. Not to be made up on the spot. Introduce yourself and your business and state your mission / objective. MIDDLE After introducing yourself and your authority, it's time to make a promise for the video. The promise should be actionable and should answer the question, "why should I watch this video?" Go deeper into the subject and discuss the topic. Be engaging, use comparison and real world examples that relate to your audience. END At the end of the video, you’ll tease what they will learn in the next video in the series. Organize your disc golf content to increase engagement within your community and bring awareness to your club. Consider using your Facebook photo albums like a portfolio, to showcase events, feature club merch, or highlight community members. One of my favorite ways you can use Facebook photo albums is by featuring your local disc golf players and community members! Ways to use albums here would be to feature specific events: Ace Race 2019, TIML 2020 Collections of images from past club tournaments help generate hype for future events. You can promote club merch for sale by creating an album specifically for this thats regularly updated. Each item can be a picture within the album Use the image description to feature the product, cost and how to buy. You can keep your community in the know by creating a Facebook Album to highlight your clubs executive committee or board of directors to keep current and future community members in the know! My favorite album idea that is sure to generate connections within your disc golf community is to have an album dedicated to Ace’s hit at the course! Hi I’m Jessica – the one woman show behind You Enjoy My Designs. Since moving to Toronto in 2014, I’ve changed career fields from medicine to all things digital.

That journey found me working for 2 different tech and marketing startups in the city. During that time, I was able to grow my digital design and marketing skill sets and have had the opportunity to work on 6 figure digital campaigns for health and wellness influencers across North America.
