I was surprised to hear how many people still ask for business cards when networking. Many times, I find myself lost in front of my computer screen with Illustrator open, and music playing through my ear buds. I look up at the time, and realize that hours have passed. I get lost in my designs sometimes, which I absolutely love. My work is also my passion, so I never feel discouraged to wake up every morning and design something amazing!

This is a document I designed recently. Although long documents or presentations with multiple pages take such a long time to create, I love doing them. You can get super creative and really showcase a bunch of different design elements into one project.

A little bit about me and my journey:
•
As most of my long time friends and family know, I was always an artistic and creative child. While most kids were reading the newest Harry Potter books, I was always sneaking a peak at my mother’s copy of the famous Art Book and of course all of her Annie Leibovitz books. School was never really my thing, and I didn’t succeed in classes like English and Science. But, as I am sure you can guess, I always loved and excelled in my Art classes. Although school was hard for me as I was learning about things I had absolutely no interest in, I knew that in some way or some where I would use my creativity in my life long career. I am a firm believer in allowing children to express their creativity in many different ways. Some of my teachers in elementary and high school didn’t like the fact that I wasn’t one of those kids that studied all day, but I can remember the names and faces of every single Art or Photography teacher I had in my life. They appreciated my creativity and my willingness to express my emotions through art.

I took this photo of my best friend Samantha when we were just 17 years old. My first DSLR camera. The funny thing about this photo is that I was trying to adjust the focus and some of the other settings, and I accidentally snapped this shot of her. Nevertheless, it is one of my favourite photos that I have taken and it just so happens to be one that I took accidentally 🖤

Me at 13 years old.

What I would tell my younger self: don’t be so hard on others, dedication pays off, follow your dreams and not someone else’s, and those braces will work their magic. ☺️

I am not nearly as successful as I would like to be, but I am finally moving towards success, and I would like to tell 13 year old McKenzie that they are so young and they have so much to look forward to.
