Did You Know? The History of the Middle Finger...
Well, now...,.. here's something I never knew before, and now that I know it, I feel compelled to share with my intelligent friends in the hopes that they too, will feel blessed in having gained more knowledge. History is way more fun when you know more fun facts about it, don’t you agree?
Before the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, the French, anticipating victory over the English, proposed to cut off the middle finger of all captured English soldiers. Without the middle finger it would be impossible to draw the renowned English longbow and therefore they would be incapable of fighting in the future. This famous English longbow was made of the native English Yew tree, and the act of drawing the longbow was known as 'plucking the yew' (or 'pluck yew'), Much to the bewilderment of the French, the English won a major upset and began mocking the French by waving their middle fingers at the defeated French, saying, See, we can still pluck yew!
Over the decades Americans have since changed up the words , the 'pluck yew' is now "f**K you" and the words often used in conjunction with the one-finger-salute! It is also because of the pheasant feathers on the arrows used with the longbow that the symbolic gesture is known as 'giving the bird.' And yew thought yew knew every plucking thing.

2.5 hours per side. $300 total cost plus personal labour @ 5 hours. Not bad. My neighbour got her rear spring and strut changed on one side at a shop and it cost her $1500. I’m so glad I can turn wrenches and I’m not too shabby at it. Too bad my body and brain are so screwed I can’t do it as a career. I can deal with saving over $2000 on labour though.

Did a few more tattoos yesterday. I’m going to superimpose clouds on the earth after it heals. Eventually, this coverup of my earliest tattoos (like the big, clumsy blue wave and the scared equasion and moon under the black) will be a leg wide space scene, with a couple more galaxies and some work on the ones that are there to make them look more realistic. There will be satellites and spacecraft scattered throughout. I just did the space shuttle and Sputnik. Last session I did the James Webb Space Telescope and I already have Hubble on my left shoulder. I’m time, this may end up being my master work. I’m certainly motivated to practice more than once per quarter. I think I’m probably coming up on 100 hours of tattooing practice and now I’m looking to hone skill, get the right equipment and stop rushing to tattoo sketches that aren’t ready to be tattoos

Trying to smelt gold with a propane torch and an Oxy Mapp Gas torch. It didn’t work and I burned the crap out of my fingers, but it was cool to try. Hot enough to melt gold? Probably. Hot enough to melt rock? Not quite #deepwoodsautisticadventurer #smelting #goldmining

All the videos of breaking rocks and sluicing, then panning the concentrate, then panning the washed debris on the bottom of the sluice reservoir and this is the result. Too heavy to get out of the pan. Skimmed for ferrous materials. Now what I’m left with is a vial of….something??? I know there’s some gold in there because of where I got the rocks. At great risk in some cases. There’s also some copper and other stuff I can’t identify yet, but I have a oxy-mapp gas torch and mini crucible and mold set on the way. That will be a good video. Amateurs using a 3000c (5700f) cutting and brazing torch to melt rocks and metal, hoping to make a gold ingot when what theh should probably be worried about is cutting their nobs off. #deepwoodsautisticadventurer #goldmining #Paydirt

I plan to dig a bit out and pan it, as well as some of the floor material. Most likely it’s not gold bearing and that’s why it was abandoned, but the chunks of rose quartz that come out of this mine are gorgeous. Adventure and exploration season is upon us!
