So a few years back I moved…to a city where I knew NO ONE… (other than Marco - my boyfriend who I moved with.)
It was a fresh start for both of us…but working from home made it extra challenging to meet new people and make connections.
There was a networking event around this time last year… Again, not knowing anyone who was going I decided I HAVE to go.

I am a dreamer. And not in the entrepreneurial sense, but as in a real dreamer.
Every night I have extremely vivid dreams. Some are so vivid that I can remember them years later or that I wake up with night terrors.
I noticed over the last few months that I hadn't been having dreams. Usually me and Marco wake up to telling each other about what we thought over the evening. Almost every day, I would wake up and tell him that I couldn't remember, or that I didn't think I had any. Which was very out of character for me.
I didn't really know what it might be, but stress is always a hard thing on the body.
When I let go of unaligned clients at the beginning of the month, almost immediately all those dreams came back. I would have very vivid dreams once again, and I realized that when I felt out of alignment and stressed, that was affecting how my brain was working at night.
When you feel out of alignment, listen to what your body tells you in different ways. You just have to listen.
What is a telltale sign for you that you're out of alignment?
I had no boundaries and I lost myself…
I was scared. I didn't want to lose clients, I didn't want to lose income, and I wanted to prove to myself that I could freaking do this.
In that, I lost myself. I started making compromises on my boundaries, sacrificing my time, and in turn diminishing my relationships.
Boundaries are extremely important when you're building a life, never mind just a business.
Boundaries are often seen as something to keep people away or keep people out, but rather it's just a rule for your life.
A boundary could be something as simple as I want to have more fun, and so you seek out opportunities to do exactly that.
You're not forcing anybody out by keeping a boundary, but rather pulling people closer to you. People who honor and respect your rules that you set out for your life, will start to show up everywhere. The people who already do that in your life will come closer, and the people who don't will fall away.
Boundaries both in life and business are crucial for your well-being, and it's something I ignored for a very long time
✨Entrepreneurs often encounter various challenges when managing social media for their businesses.
I know… it can be daunting to figure it all out…but you are not alone!!
Here are some common woes that entrepreneurs face when it comes to social media.
➡️Choosing the Right Platforms: Different platforms cater to different demographics, so you need to choose the ones where your target audience is most active and where you spend most of your time. Yes, they may be on X but if you hate the platform you won’t spend the time you need to there either.
➡️Content Creation: Finding the right balance between promotional and valuable content, as well as keeping up with trends, is crucial for maintaining your audience’s interest. 20% of your content should be sales while the other 80% should be VALUE driven (educational, inspirational, entertaining etc.)
➡️Consistent Branding: Maintaining a consistent brand image across various social media platforms is so important. The tone, style, and messaging should align with your overall brand identity.
➡️The Haters: Haters gonna hate…am I right?! Dealing with negative comments or social media crises requires a thoughtful and timely response. Ignoring or mishandling negative feedback can harm your brand's reputation.
➡️Keeping up with Algorithm Changes: Social media algorithms frequently change, impacting the visibility of your content. Staying informed about these changes and adjusting your strategies accordingly is crucial for maintaining reach and engagement.
➡️Time Management: Social media requires consistent attention and updates. You may struggle to find the time to create and curate content, engage with your audience, and monitor all of your social media channels effectively.
📈To overcome these challenges, you could consider outsourcing your social media management. But overall, try to stay informed about the industry’s best practices and develop a solid strategy.

✨ Used trending audio. By using trending audio, you have the opportunity to show up in more places🎵
✨ Grab the user's attention with a good hook. It doesn't have to be long and complicated, but it needs to grab their attention right away👀
✨ Evoke emotion. Leave your viewers feeling something. Whether it's inspired, knowledgeable, excited, sad, all of these can be great for action 😍
✨ Don't forget about your call to action. Once the viewer has watched the video, be sure to direct them to the next spot so they know how to continue with you if they choose to💻

Here is a behind the scenes moment from my Brand Photoshoot Shannon Golen Photography and I did just before I opened my business. Tips to make this a successful process: 1. Hire a great photographer 😉🙏 2. Create a Pinterest mood board with ideas and stylized photos, along with a small shot list to give over to your photographer before you begin shooting (I recommend the easier the better so they can get a feel for the look as well) ✅ 3. Grab props and outfits you feel comfortable in BUT that match your aesthetic and brand colors. This way these photos could be used anywhere with your brand. Depending on your business, these props can be laptops, cell phones, wallets, notebooks, cameras, blankets, cups/mugs etc. ☕📑📱 4. Have fun!! A photoshoot should be fun and exciting. Take a few deep breaths and just smile away. Enjoy the process 😊
This is one of my favourite moments in Schitt's Creek 😅 But really! Small businesses: don't buy what you don't need. A write-off is actually something that is going to reduce your taxable income, not something you get for free. Write-offs can be good, but sometimes they can get carried away. Of course if your business needs a new laptop, I would recommend using it as a business write off, but be careful not to spend too much 💰💰 You want to make sure that your business is making money at the end of the year! Financial planners, bookkeepers and accountants can really help you better understand this and how it can help your business! What do you write off in your business?
