I saw more and more people as I got closer to the stadium. It was as if I was going to a Bruce Springsteen concert.
I started to doubt my GPS. It’s a mistake: how is this possible? Once I got to the entrance, I went up to a guy and asked: “Hey, is there a concert going on tonight?”
“Ha! A concert. This is all for a tryout. Haven’t you heard about the game between the Superheroes and the Superdads?”
If I had to guess, there must’ve been around a thousand people there, although, according to Gino—the manager of the stadium’s restaurant since 1978—there were closer to 1,500 or 2,000. Gino knew all about large gatherings because in 1992, he went to a Dik Dik concert, or at least that’s what he was trying to explain to the chief of police, according to whom, there weren’t more than a hundred people, max 150.
