Before YG was arrested for burglary in 2009.

YG grew up in Compton, a self proclaimed gangbanger who would rob and steal. He got his hands on his first g*n when he was in his teens and his family moved him out of Compton believing that their son would end up either in jail or d3ad but he kept going back to the hood because it was the only world he understood. He intitially found success online and was given the title ‘King Of The J3rk’ an artist name he never decided to adpt

Keenon Daequan Ray Jackson was born on March 9th, 1990, better known by his stage name YG or Young Gangsta, born in Compton, California.

Through childhood he would move around the Los Angeles area raised by his mother and his father, both of them being pretty strict with their boy and desperate to keep him from going down the wrong path. Keenon attended Paramount High School and Mayfair High School but never graduated.

Rakim Mayers was born on October 3rd , 1988 in Harlem, New York City. His first name Rakim – was given to him by his father who was from Barbados – the name was after the hip hop legend Rakim, one half of the Eric B. & Rakim duo.

Rocky started rapping at age eight after the birth of his little sister, Asia. He learned how to rap from his older brother who would make him beats off the kitchen table, Rocky looked up to his big bro who also rocked who the French braids hairdo he would later adopted.

When Rocky was 12 years old, his father went to jail in connection with selling drugs. When he was 13 his brother was shot and killed in Harlem.

Tyga born Michael Stevenson whose artist name is an acronym for Thank You G0d Always was raised in Compton California in the gang and g*n culture common in this area.

But his street cred would come into question after he appeared on an MTV show stating that his mother gave him his name cause he looks like Tiger Woods and also stating that he was from a privileged upbringing.

Michael Ray Nguyen [ WIN ] Stevenson was born on November 19, 1989 in Compton, California. He was a shy child of Vietnamese and Jamaican descent who grew up listening to Fabolous, Lil Wayne, Cam'ron and Eminem among others.

At the age of 11 his family moved out of Compton to Gardena California a few blocks west and young Tyga atteneded Gardena High School but he would drop out before graduation. He would later complete his schooling getting his hands on his G.E.D.

He was focused on his music and would enter rap contests with friends from school and post songs in online chat rooms. And promoting a mixtape he had made around town.

His big break would come when he bumped into his cousin Travis McCoy from Gym Class Heroes inside L.A.’s Fight Club Sneaker Store. The two talked music and Tyga shared some of his work.

Before he had a guest appearance on a track with practically everyone else in the rap game.
Before he married his long time girlfriend – Dreka Haynes and became a family man.

Kevin Gates started rapping in the 7th grade and knew that it was his calling, he would hustle many mixtapes around the Louisianna area before his incarceration in 2008, he spent three years in prison released in 2011, but while he was locked up, his reputation and fan base had grown dramatically and he went straight to the studio…. Where he held nothing back.

Kevin Jerome Gilyard was born on February 5, 1986 in New Orleans Louisiana but would grow up in the State Capital of Baton Rouge. The oldest of three children, he never met his biological father till the 8th grade.

Growing up KEVIN lived in a house flooded with music and records. he most frequently listened to rappers such as Snoop Dogg, Master P, Big L, B0ne Thugs-n-Harmony, Notorious B.I.G., and Dr. Dre and for him it was a type of therapy from his own demons and depression.
Before he started rapping professionaly he would entertain his family at get togethers pretending he was a rapper like you see on TV. In middle school he was a bit of an outsider and recalls being name called and bullied.

Outside of music, Kevin got himself mixed up in street life as a means to make money and fit in. He associated a lot with his uncle and those much older than himself feeling most comfortable around them then as opposed to kids his own age or his younger siblings. He was also really close with his grandfather.

Members Quavo, Offset and Takeoff who are related - came together in 2009 initially under the name Polo Club. The Atlanta Trio developed a buzz by hitting clubs in their city every week and buying the DJ a drink to play their music. It was Drake who took a liking to their track Versace and remixed it, launching these three to the worldwide stage.

Quavo born Quavious Marshall, was born in 1991, Takeoff born Kirshnik Ball in 1995 and Offset born Kiari Cephus, born in 1992. Quavo being Takeoff's uncle and Offset being Quavo's cousin.

Rich Homie Quan was born Lamar Dequantes on October 4, 1989 in Atlanta Georigia. The oldest of three kids Lamar and his siblings would bounce around between his separated parents homes. From Decatur to Gresham to College Park.

Lamar was fond of literature his favorite author James Patterson. He didn’t spend his entire childhood with his nose in the books – he would also start playing sports on the street and took a particular interest in baseball.

He also took an interest in music with early favorite being Hot Boys, JT Money, and Lil Wayne’s The Block Is Hot. It wasn’t all rap though, he also like Blues and became a big fan of The Temptations. Coming up in the education system young Marcus was placed in Special Education classes. In his free time he would skateboard and listen to rap music, he developed an obsession with Eminem’s work.

At the age of 15 he started working through the summers as an extra on television shows, first in Disney Channel TV shows such as Even Stevens, Lizzie McGuire, then other projects like Cold Case, Malcolm in the Middle, John Tucker Must Die and Gilmore Girls. He can also be scene in the background of Bring It On Part 2 doing some crunk dancing. He would continue this work for several years.

His most steady gig was on That’s So Raven where he auditioned and was cast as day player and had some speaking parts.

Chancelor Johnathan Bennett could likely have become anything he wanted to be, maybe even President of the United States – seriously, at 15 the kid was interning for Obama, but the performing arts hooked him early in life. He comes from a upper class Chicago family and attended prep school, growing up he would listen to soul and jazz. A ten-day suspension during his senior year for smoking W33D gave him the time to record his debut mixtape, 10 Days. Uploaded to the Internet in 2012, the mixtape would grab the attention of Forbes magazine and Childish Gambino.

Chancelor Johnathan Bennett was born April 16, 1993 in Chicago Illinois and would grow up in the South Side of town. An area notorious for gang culture but young Chancelor had it pretty good growing up in West Chatham.

His parents were educated and employed with the government. His father, Ken Williams-Bennett, held a prominent presence in the city: first served as an aide to former Chicago mayor Harold Washington and then worked for Barack Obama, when he was Chicago senator.

Before he was arrested at the South By Southwest musical festival for being in possession of some W33D.
Before he would become the fourth member of Black Hippy alongside Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock & Ab – Soul.

As a kid growing up in South Central L.A. he eared the moniker Schoolboy because he was a bit of a keener in school, wearing glasses and scoring a 3.3 in high school. He wasn’t interested in what he was learning so he would cheat – his priority were sports, he played four years of high school varsity baseball and eventually some college football. Throughout this time he was living a double life as a member of 52 Hoover Crips where he sold drugs and prescription pills and battled his own addictions, that is until he got locked up and then decided to make a life for himself in music.

Born Quincy Matthew Hanley on October 26, 1986, in Germany on a military base to a pair of military parents,

Q spent the first three years of his life in Texas before his family eventually settled in Los Angeles.

Growing up on the corner of 51st and Figueroa, just 8 min from the Staples Centre. He himself took an interest in sports young and was playing football as young as 6. He attended 52nd Street Elementary.

Not long after the families move to Los Angeles his parents split and he rebelled turning into a troublemaker, skipping classes, joining a gang, and selling drugs.

He had lost faith in the education system as early as the fifth grade and would cheat his whole way through school. He sure knew how to do that well cause he managed to pull off a 3.3 while at Crenshaw High School.
