Muhammad Khan is a lawyer who runs his own practice specializing in mainly property and business law in Scarborough. He also does family, immigration and civil litigation law. He attended the SED program at the YMCA over 10 years ago and felt that although he was well versed in the law he needed help in understanding the business aspects.
He had actually written the test to qualify here prior to leaving Pakistan needed to become a Canadian citizen before he could practice. By the time he entered SED he was short on funds (approx. 2 years after immigrating) and needed to work to support his wife and.
Like many immigrants he was hampered getting into the Canadian workforce with no Canadian experience so being a sole practitioner was the only option. That's where SED came in to smooth the way. He spoke to Canadian Newcomer through reporter Theresa Spohn

That level of responsiveness from government is reassuring - and I look forward to sharing more details on the initiatives with our audience.
