15/04/2024

A neighbour of mine once gave my mom spoilt eba and Okro soup to eat.

This was when we had nothing and were both struggling.

My mom had gone to her to ask if she had anything to eat.

The woman told my mom that all she had was eba and soup. She asked if my mom wanted it.

"But you go fit chop my food?"

My mom assured her she can. Of cause, she wasn't expecting spoilt food.

When she brought the eba to the house in a plate and opened it, my dad felt like throwing up.

He was very upset.

"How can she do this to us?" He fumed angrily.

"Is it because we are poor? Or is it because we don't have anything to eat?" How can she be so cruel to give us food that she cannot eat?"

My mom tried to calm him down and asked him not to shout so she doesn't hear.

Still angry, he stood up and carried his shoe along.

It was his only church shoe. That day he sold it to a shoemaker at our junction for peanuts.

He brought the money and handed it to my mom.

Cook us something better to eat. Do not beg people anymore.

If we don't have, it is better we starve than to beg and be mocked at." He cautioned.

That evening while she cooked, my mom asked him to bring down the soup, while she ran to buy us candles.

Just as she left, a knock sounded on my door.

My dad opened it and discovered it was our neighbor.

The same woman that had brought us the spoilt soup.

She carried a pot in her hands and asked my dad if she could warm her soup with our charcoal.

My dad agreed.

While she was warming her soup, we kept perceiving this strange smell from her pot.

And so when she had come to carry her soup, my dad said to her.

"This soup still good?"

The woman chuckled.

"E good. Na the last one be this. I give your wife small this afternoon, and na this one I wan chop."

"But the soup don spoil na."

She looked at the pot.

"Food the only spoil when you get option. For me wey no get option, e still good. And I go chop am like that."

My mom who was already back and inside started weeping as she overheard the woman.

That evening my dad collected the pot from the woman and invited her into our house to eat with us. She was very happy.

Before she left, he told my mom to share our pot of soup in two. We gave her half of the soup, while we kept half.

MORAL LESSON
Some of us take the good deeds of others for wickedness.

We complain because what they gave to us was not what we expected them to give.

But have we stopped to ask if what they gave us was their last?

We should look deeper, and be appreciative instead of complaining.
Look around you today use that your money and feed someone.. God doesn't live in a house God still lives in human beings like you and me..

Good morning folks...

It really hurts to see a guy who has a child driving fancy cars, trying to impress girls by buying Hennessy for his friends and wearing all these types of labels, but failing to do a simple thing: supporting his child. Look, my brother, you fail to take your phone to call the baby mama and ask her what your child needs, even though you are no longer together with her. Let's not make our children suffer because of our differences with their baby mamas.

The same bottle of Hennessy that you buy for your friends can make a difference in your child's life. The same goes for the takeaways that you buy for your girlfriends.

You are giving baby mamas a hard time because they are trying so hard to raise the child. When your baby mama finds someone who's caring and who takes care of your child, you cause drama between them because they are happy.
My brother, just grow up for once, papa. Pull up your socks and be a man, not just a "baby daddy" but a real father. Let not your child suffer because of their mother's actions. Please make the right choice and respect yourself. Love your child no matter what happened between you and the baby mama, and never abandon your child.

CELEBRATING A GREAT FIT BY AN AKWA IBOM SON.

A remarkable feat was recently achieved at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, as the neurosurgery unit successfully treated a patient who had been admitted to the Accident and Emergency department with seven nails hammered into his head.

Despite the seemingly hopeless nature of the situation, the neurosurgery team, led by Dr. Ubong Udo Ekpene, was able to remove all seven nails and restore the patient's neurological function.

The patient was later discharged from the hospital.

Congratulations to all involved.

AKPABIO HAILS TINUBU ON SUPREME COURT VICTORY

The President of the Senate Senator Godswill Akpabio, CON has congratulated President Bola Tinubu on the revalidation of his February 25, 2023 election victory by the Supreme Court describing the decision as reflective of the will of the people.

Senator Akpabio in a congratulatory message to President Tinubu said the decision of the apex court was a welcome relief as it finally unfastens the last bolts to the path for social-political engineering that President Tinubu promised the nation.

“Mr President, I am personally elated that the jurists of the Supreme Court saw through the arguments and even without much technicalities easily confirmed your victory in the poll.

“There is no doubt that victory came at a cost, but Mr President, that makes it even sweeter. I know you have in your years of public service yielded your personal and other comforts for the collective good and what it cost to confirm the victory in the courts should be seen with a similar vista.

Senator Akpabio also urged the president not to relent in being a father figure to his former rivals saying that it was superfluous to remind the president of his well-known big heart.

The Senate President also called on the major rivals of the President to sheath their swords of political combat and join hands with the Tinubu administration in the collective goal of making the nation great again.

“The elections have been announced by the electoral authorities and confirmed by the courts, and I call on all former political rivals of the president to show good faith by joining hands with the Bola Tinubu administration in its ongoing efforts to take the nation to a higher level.”

The Senate President on his part said that the National Assembly would continue to support the Bola Tinubu administration by leveraging its legislative tentacles to raise the level of governance to a higher pedestal.

Let the administration begin in full, no more distractions.

25/10/2023

THE VOYAGE ~ About 30 years ago, I slept at the Murtala Muhammed Airport for four days.

No, I was not a homeless vagabond.

I had bought the Nigeria Airways ticket to fly to the United States for a one-year sabbatical leave.

But when I arrived at the airport, I realized that my ticket was not honored, though I had bought it legitimately.

Whenever a plane was about to leave Lagos for New York, the NA officials posted a manifest list, and my name was not there.

They would ask me to wait for the next list.

This drama of “Your name is not yet listed, wait for the next manifest list” continued for four days.

I couldn’t leave the airport and return home because I lived in Ile Ife, and had bid my people goodbye for one year. They all expected I would be in NY already.

I was therefore forced to sleep by the door of the NA office at the airport, waiting for the release of the manifest list with my name on it.

I was not alone. There were hundreds of stranded passengers like me there—men, women, young, old, tall, short, thin fat—all sorts of people.

The Murtala Mohamed Airport was different then than what we have now.

There were no security officers. People drifted in and out in their hundreds. It was rowdy. There was no order of any sort. Food hawkers milled among the crowd of the stranded passengers like me, selling hot dogs, sandwiches, puff-puff, moin-moin, gala, meat pie, hamburgers, even rice and dodo.

People hawked sodas such as Cocacola, Fanta, Sprite and malt drinks.

The interior of the airport was packed like the Oyingbo market. There were also pickpockets and other fraudsters pulling fast tricks on unsuspecting victims.

I was hesitant to buy anything.

I had changed all my naira to dollars at the rate of one dollar to three naira. But if I wanted to change my dollar back to naira, I could only collect one naira for my dollar at the airport, which would be a loss.

I was desperate when I got hungry. But someone was willing to give me two naira for a dollar, so I changed two dollars. I bought some moin-moin and coke.

The guys who helped me to change my money said I had no hope of traveling unless I was willing to bribe someone.

I was adamant. I wasn’t going to bribe anybody. It was my right to fly out, after all, I had paid for my ticket.

By day four, I lost hope of traveling out. I used my handbag as my pillow and reclined on the floor, to take a nap.

The young woman who slept a couple of feet away from me was also napping, snoring loudly. I asked her earlier, and she said she had been there for almost a week. She said she was ready at that point to accept the offer of a Nigeria Airways official who wanted s*x in exchange for helping her to get on the manifest list.

For how long I had been asleep I couldn’t tell, when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I opened my eyes. It was Segun Odegbami, the famous international soccer star, who played for the Green Eagles. I thought I was dreaming. I had met him through a friend, Tunde Fagbenle, and we had shared drinks at Fagbenle’s house in Lagos a couple of times.

I couldn’t refer to him as my friend, and I didn’t even know he would recognize me or remember my name.

I was a fat nobody next to a big star like him, someone for whom Ebenezer Obey had waxed an album, with the chorus, “It is a gooooal, Odegbami,” a bestselling song throughout Nigeria.

When I opened my eyes and it was him, I wanted to close my eyes back, thinking I was just dreaming.

But he spoke to me. “Moyo, what are you doing on the floor here?”

I quickly sat up, wiped my eyes, and smile at him. I narrated my story.

He shook his head, and said with a sigh, “That’s Nigeria Airways for you. I came to see someone off to London, and as I was leaving I happened to see you.”

“Na so we see am o,” I told him.

“Where is your ticket?”

I dipped my hand inside the pocket of my agbada, made out of new Ankara textiles. It had double as my daywear and my pajamas for four days. I retrieved the ticket and gave it to him.

He said, “Excuse me for a minute. Let me go and talk with them.”

Then he went inside the Nigeria Airways office, and within minutes he was back, with two young men.

“Moyo, are you ready to go now,” Odegbemi said, “because a flight is leaving in about fifteen minutes.”

I didn’t need to say yes. My eyes said it all.

The two young men picked up my luggage.

Odegbami gave me a hug and wished me bon voyage.

The two young men led the way with my luggage—just a suitcase and my hand luggage.

They took me to the back of the airport, and there was a Peugeot 505 waiting for us.

They loaded my luggage in the boot and drove me down the tarmac to the huge aircraft about half a mile away.

From a persona non grata, I instantly transformed into a VIP, driven on the tarmac like a departing president.

Nobody checked my luggage for any contraband. Everything was loaded directly on the plane and I was given the luggage tags.

I walked to my seat and sank into it. I couldn’t help but notice that the plane was less than half full.

There were empty seats everywhere when the plane took off. Yet, there were scores of people waiting at the airport, denied their right to fly, after paying their fares.

I remembered the poor woman snoring next to me on the floor at the airport.

Tears began to fall from my eyes.

“If they ever see me again in that godforsaken country,” I swore silently, “they should cut off my head.”

I copied this from Uncle Segun Odegbami's page. I have often said that our major problem in Nigeria is not really corruption. Corruption only happens to the symptom.

The real problem is WICKEDNESS!

Read this article and you would agree with me. It's been long that the rain has been beating the vulture......

A’Ibom TRC Law Satanic, Discriminatory – Oron Union PG Emeritus

‱Demands immediate amendment for peaceful coexistence

By Joseph Atainyang

The recent passage of an amendment to the Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers Law by the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly (AKHA) has ignited intense controversy and sparked concerns over discrimination and division.

The legislation, signed into law by Gov Umo Eno on September 22, 2023, perpetually assigns the position of President-General of the Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers to the office of Oku Ibom Ibibio, creating a divisive and potentially chaotic environment within the state.

Reacting to the passage of the law, Sir (Dr) Asuquo Inuikim, Emeritus President-General of the Oron Union, expressed deep discontent and labeled the amendment as “satanic, discriminatory, and condemnable.”

Inuikim criticized the lawmakers for disregarding the wishes of their constituents and enacting a law that further marginalizes and divides the citizens of Akwa Ibom State.

In a press statement dated October 17 and published in WatchmanPost, Chief Inuikim said the paramount rulers from Annang, Oro, and Obolo ethnic nationalities have united against the legislation, emphasizing its obnoxious and repulsive nature.

He said, “The law has raised concerns over its infringement upon the rights and freedoms of citizens. While Governor Umo Eno claimed that the paramount rulers agreed to equate the position of Akwa Ibom’s President-General with that of first-class royal fathers across Nigeria, questions have been raised about why the first-class ruler must reside only in Ibibio land.

“Their concerns center around the perpetuation of the Oku Ibom Ibibio as the sole occupant of the President-General’s office, effectively ending the rotational process of the headship of the TRC.”

Inuikim commented that those behind the idea of the law must have been possessed by an evil spirit, stating that it promotes the view of some individuals as inferior and resembles modern-day slavery.

He further criticized the attempt to undermine the rotational chairmanship of the State Council of Chiefs, stressing that it goes against the wisdom and practices of the pioneer royal fathers of the state, who instituted the rotational headship of the council.

“The amendment to the Traditional Rulers Council Law in 2022, changing the title from chairman to president-general, was seen as an opportunity for an Oro man to hold the position.

“However, political maneuvers prevented this, allowing the Oku Ibom Ibibio to remain in power. With his two-year term winding down, he now seeks to secure his lifelong presidency and restrict the position to the Ibibio race.

“This move can only be described as excessive greed and a potential threat to the unity and peaceful coexistence of Akwa Ibom State”, he said.

Calling for a reconsideration of the legislation, Inuikim urged the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly to rectify the injustice by promoting inclusivity, unity, and fairness among all citizens.

He emphasized that discriminatory laws cannot stand when in contravention of the Nigerian Constitution, and called for the restoration of lasting peace, harmony, and unity in the state.

How My ‘"Fr∆udster’ Son Tried To Remove My Eyes For Money Ritual – Delta Woman

Emma Eregarnoma invited his mother, Mrs Oke Eregarnoma, to his house on Caroline Street, Okuokoko after he persuaded her that he had a surprise package for her.

On getting there, she said she saw Emma in an unusual joyous mood, after he welcomed her in. He then increased the volume of his musical gadgets. Oke alleged that her son suddenly locked the door and made moves to strangle and pluck off her eyes, just as she screamed for help, adding that no one heard her due to the loud music.

She said after fighting with his son for some minutes she regained her strength and ran outside for help, while neighbours came to her rescue. Mrs Oke Eregarnoma, while narrating her ordeal to journalists on a hospital bed where she was recuperating, recalled that before the attack, her son boasted that “he must drive GLK this week.

The suspect was consequently apprehended and taken to the police station. Emma was detained at the Orerokpe.
