I've actually been pretty busy with the VO world, even went so far as converting a closet into my own little recording booth! Super excited to use it.

Happy Sunday, friends!

How are you spending the time indoors? Personally, I'm getting back into painting minis; here are a few samples I've done over the last few days! On the left is the Ranger Minsc, with his pet hamster Boo, a cannon character from several D&D games (Neverwinter, Baldur's Gate) and on the right is a human Male bard, one of the first minis I ever owned, that I used for my bard, Damon Novak.

I find it's a great way to clear my head between recording and editing.

Heya friendos! Long time no speak. Why is that? Well, I've been busy busy busy.

I have been doing some odd jobs here and there; including painting my grandmother's barn in September myself! Was a very fulfilling (and draining 😅) project to do in the last warm days of the year.

Aside from that, I got a new desk (new to me, anyway lol) and made a makeshift VO booth! All while still working with my voice and doing something I love as my career. This doesnt mean I'm done growing though, the madness is only just beginning!

Was thinking of a few things:

1. How would people feel if I offered a patreon?

2. Going off 1, what if I offered unique things with my voice people wouldnt find anywhere else? I was thinking a guided meditation series or short story readings.

I'd like everyone's opinion on this. Would you guys enjoy/support that kind of content?

I am legit heartbroken to hear about Chadwick Boseman. The marvel world lost one of its heroes. He has one helluva legacy, but he was taken too soon. Wakanda Forever, cancer sucks.

I think it's safe to say I failed the 30 days of voices challenge like... 5 separate times now?

I have a good reason though... I've been busy with some VO work! I'm enjoying doing something I love, and i honestly cant be happier right now.

I'll open this up to you guys: what should my final 2 voices be?

Bidet, lovelies! I'm amazed it took me this long to do anything D&D-related! Critical Role, back in 2016, was the first legit exposure I'd ever had to dungeons and dragons. I'd played 3.5 a handful of times but wasn't into it, Pathfinder maybe once, but didn't even know about 5th edition until I started watching this show. 4 years later and... well... I'm super hooked. 5 books, like 7 distinctly different characters, and many fun rolls and good times. I credit D&D with a lot of good things that have happened in my life. Including getting me into voice acting!

As such, here's Grog, Travis Willingham's goliath barbarian from campaign 1 of Critical Role!

Quote: "Right, listen up. If you have ale, then you have a friend in Grog Strongjaw. A goliath of towering height and size, this barbarian has an appetite for the two great loves in his life: combat, women, and ale. Wait...

Easily the brains of the group, Grog is often consulted for his vast knowledge of shapes, colors, and shiny things. Also ale.

So my focus in VO is actually in commercial right now, not characters like in animation or video games. So I figured I may as well read a sample commercial copy to show you guys one way I do my auditions. They're a lot of fun to do, surprisingly!

Some things do not age well. Duke Nukem in it's entirety is one such example. Still had some funny lines, though XD

And now; another blast from the past for day 25! Say what you will about the Hobbit, Smaug being realized on the big screen was EASILY the best part of the entire trilogy. So it was awesome to voice him for a buddy of mine's audio project. My voice was pitched down -a bit- but that is definitely me!

I. HATE. Fighting the Marauder. Every time I fought one of these jerks playing Doom Eternal, I was filled with dread and died at least 3 times. Minimum.

HOWEVER. It is such a cool design, the lore around them is awesome, and something should be said about how these are consistently challenging from when you first fight them all the way to the end of the game. Kudos to the game designers for that. Here's day 23 :P

This is a bit of a rant, but I feel I should say something;

I can't believe this needs to be said, and it probably has been, but sending death threats to someone like Laura Bailey for the actions a character she plays committed... are you serious? Laura Bailey? She is a delightful person and an A C T O R who voiced someone. Sure, be mad at the character, but Laura wasnt the one who did bad things in The Last of Us 2. It's just a game. I love games, I love good stories, but for crying out loud man, separate reality from a work of fiction for two seconds and breath.

Love it or hate it, I cant believe a video game is getting so much flak, let alone the actors (whom I admire and respect) that are involved.

Hey all! Hope everybody is well. It's such a nice day out.

My voice videos will return in the next day or two. I think along with resting my voice, I also needed more inspiration and a break from life in general. Things are tough right now, but love and compassion will pull us through.

Anyway, here's a peak at my office. It's kinda cluttered, and the desk itself I got a thrift store, but it's my workspace and I couldn't be happier with it. 😊❤

Y'know what's great? Voice Acting. Yknow what isn't great? Voice acting and not taking care of your voice. Guess who did the latter 🙃

I have to take a break from auditions and the voices challenge because I've been working my voice raw. I havent been taking proper care of myself, so I need to do that first and foremost.

Anyway, this is a PSA to say the following: always take time for self care, and give yourself permission to step back and be kind to yourself.

PS: Also, Hamilton just came out to Disney+ today. I've watched it twice already. If you don't bawl your eyes out at "It's Quiet Uptown" then you don't have a soul.

When you're bored and do voices, you occasionally (and by that I mean always) run through entire movie scenes with your voice. This is one such example with Westley and Prince Humperdink in the "To The Pain" scene. It counts as 2 of my missed days :D

I've recently learned (the hard way) that your voice constantly needs to warm up/warm down if you're using it professionally. After picking up Voice Over Voice Actor by Yuri Lowenthal and Tara Platt, this warmup was one of the big ones they say works wonders for your voice and mouth. So I thought I'd share it with you guys for day 17.

More voices are coming later today, and I think you'll enjoy it ;P

Hey friends. I'm currently away spending time with family, so I once again have to put the voice challenge on hold. I would like to take this time to ask you guys what voices/quotes I should do. Should I make something up and read Shakespeare? Should I try to say something incredibly stupid in a super serious voice? What do you guys want to hear?

In honour of Father's Day, let's use day 15 to give a shoutout to the best villain and, in the end, father of the year; Darth Vader! I had to amalgamate some of the quotes together, don't judge. Featuring a "Sons of Anakin" t-shirt my dad actually gave me :P
