There is often a set up of other habits which is necessary to build a foundation first before you can consistently perform the habit you actually want. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Example: bring lunch to work. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sounds simple enough. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But you have to pack a lunch in order to bring a lunch. If you cannot do that consistently you won't be bring a lunch consistently.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Our habit, or more specifically the neuronal pathway our brain has set, never goes away. The road doesn't get ripped out, you have created a detour around it and are no longer using it anymore, and so it becomes less drive able.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If your situation changes, the old cues pop up, the stress increases, life throws us a curve ball, we find ourselves in our environment, that same road can driven down again. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This is why habits are so hard to break.

Developing a new habit is having to build a brand new road, a beautifully paved road. Many signals and sequences of messages and actions have come together to build this path. Once developed runs very smoothly and automatically. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

When it comes to the efforts in dieting, exercising seems far more painful to our body than eating a salad. After a strenuous workout it feels like we must be making big headway! In reality, what we eat has a far bigger impact on weight loss than the exercise we do. How could this be? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

In our simple equation of Calories In vs Calories Out, on the Calorie in part, all we have is what we eat. The first place to check is whether there is a calorie deficit. In order to lose weight there needs to be less calories coming in than there are being spent. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Calories IN versus Calories OUT⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We are constantly reminded of how we won't be able to do something, how difficult it will be, sometimes just a plan "NO" to halt us in our tracks. This is challenging enough to face day in and day out. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The voice that needs to be the loudest in all this is our own voice in our head. Encouraging us, believing in us, motivating us, picking us up when we get that flicker of doubt. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We must work hard to train that voice to nurture us. You already have to fight hard enough for your opportunities, don't let your own voices take opportunities away from you before you even get started.

We may have the best plans regarding our lives and we feel so excited and motivated and then....we have to tell our family/friends, or they find out and our fire starts to fizzle. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Talk to your family/friends and tell them exactly why this is so important to you, why this matters so much. If there still isn't support, you have to forge on even if there isn't the support you hope. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
