Keeled right over.
Toe rail in the water.
Sh*t is all over the cabin.
25 knots.

Last Thursday we had rough water and high winds. I was smashed on deck into the exterior of the cabin. Finally got to a hospital in walking distance yesterday for X-rays. Bruised and displaced fractured ribs.

Change of plans. We aren’t going to make it to Picton. Decided it was best to turn around and slowly head home.
That being said, we are cruising all the way - day hopping and taking our time.
Nothing you can do about ribs when no surgery is required (thank goodness!)

Just resting best I can while we sail home.
My usual jobs I traded in. Though, it is what it is… I still have to do lots of work.
I’ll rest in September.

Yesterday was eventful, but not what we prefer. 😅 It was haaaairy.

You can’t see from the photos, but behind us a storm was rolling in as we were headed toward our next destination. The wind was originally south-east on our favour, 15-20 knots. We decided to put the drifter up and leave the main down for safety. We knew it would be gusty and with the huge swell… and what turned out to be shifty winds after an hour of sailing… there was no need for the main. ⛵️

Well. The wind was shifting from different directions and, the drifter wasn’t staying where we needed it to be - time to take her down! Just in time as the wind gusts were getting to be a bit much and getting closer to the next YC (yacht club), it was time to switch the motors on.

Myself behind the wheel, I steered us into the wind to loosen the slack on the drifter - Mark on deck to bring it in. We had to move fast.. the wind was ripping, the swell was huge (boat was a rockin’), we were coming close-ish to shore and little 420 racers all around us (kids sailing school). It was DICEY.

Very fast, or rear drifter line flapped into the water under the boat and got sucked up by the prop! 🤦🏼‍♀️ FAK.
The engine stopped… I lost control of all steering and we were at the mercy of the water and the wind bobbing in the water, drifter still half out. We disconnected the sail from the line and brought it in fast, throwing it in the anchor locker.

We had brought our scuba gear thank goodness. Mark suited up while I would keep watch over everything else, including him. This was SCARY.

The waves would bring the boat up high, and then smash us back down. Not a great idea to be going anywhere near under a boat… but we HAD to. Especially given that Mark already suffers from a TBI, any kind of knock on the head would have been extra severe.. not to mention could knock a person unconscious. 😳

I let the life ring out and secured it to our rails so Mark could take breaks. I did a lot of praying!! ♥️ He managed to get the line off the prop without taking a knife to it.
We tested the engine and got it back on.
Sailed into port, docked up and then the rains started - thunder clapping.
It was a race to get set up for the quick storm.

Once we were secure, we started our engine checks and impeller checks from the interior of the boat. Saw that the impeller was dripping more than usual, which made total sense given our line was wrapped up right around the prop, pulling the impeller out more than it should have been. Minimal issue!!! Tightened that up.
Boom. Done.
Everything I’m working order.
We were good.
We ARE good! 💗💞

Did some provisioning once the adrenaline settled and, relaxed the rest of the evening.
It’s the following day… I’m exhausted 😉

Slept in, relaxing breakfast… we now have to walk fairly far back to the store with a dock cart to pick up 30+ litres of spring water for drinking. Then before we sail off to the next destination for the weekend (where there are no stores for provisioning)…. I’m going to walk my bare feet in the sand and do some grounding!!!

It’s been an eventful 24 hours 😂

Sailing is work. Lots of little jobs, some big ones, and some things you never know can just pop up out of nowhere. But, when it’s good… it’s really good.
The work is totally worth the rewards.
Loving this

𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐋𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐆𝐚𝐭𝐞! ♾️❤️‍🔥🦁♾️

The orbs all around us last night was amaaaaaaazing!!! All around our boat and on the boat.
We were speaking about our travels and intentions for later this year and next, then I felt a wave of energy and knew we had lots of visitors around us.
I snapped this photo. 💫💗💞✨✨

Cameras can pick up WAY more than our physical eyes can. If you’re an empath or clairsentient and you often 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 energy, or 𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒆 it… try taking a photo and see if you catch an orb, auric field, energy ball, movement, etc. Pretty neat!

If you practise meditation, do your shadow work and raise your frequency/vibration (stay in the love frequency)… you’ll find you’ll 𝙴𝚇𝙿𝙰𝙽𝙳 your awareness, consciousness and unlock your DNA - becoming even more activated in who you truly are. You may start tapping in even more to your spiritual gifts… seeing, knowing, hearing, feeling, and so much more!!

During this energetic new year, the Lions Gate Portal 8/8 - energies are intensified and you will be more in tune to the vibrations around you. You may find old stuff coming up for you to simply acknowledge and, release to the Universe/God/Source.

The veil is super thin until the end of the month, or non-existent for some!
A great time to focus on what you WANT in life, and not what you don’t want.
Set your intentions.
It’s a great time for manifestation. ♥️

Last night was MY first ever official, non-official race!!!

The boat Mark usually crews for on Tuesday’s was taking on some water and under repairs - cancelled.

So we walked around to see if anyone else needed crew and then we thought, HEY -
“Let’s ask if they’ll let us race our boat for fun.” 😆

You have to first understand that although our boat has been in MANY MANY previous races, and we do have some old Mylar Kevlar sails… we are CRUISERS, with a boat set up for cruising. 😂

Anyway, they said sure… so we found ourselves a third crew member and off we went to the races.

I thought for sure we’d come in last because we are extremely heavy with cruising supplies - house stuff, ya know… and racers strip their boats right down to the bones to be light and fly across the water. It was comical.

I cracked jokes of firing up the BBQ underway. Mark joked of tossing the kitchen sink and our pots and pans overboard. LOL
Our crew member told us it was luxurious for him to have cushions racing in the cockpit. 🤣🤣🤣

My goodness we had fun.
And yeah… not last! Hahahaa!!!
We came in second last, which means we beat a boat! LOL
In fact, we were quite ahead of the last boat…

This may have lead to inspiring another boat purchase so we have one for cruising, and one we can strip down and race. 😉⛵️✨✨

FUN TIMES!

And yes.. I’m still learning.
My best learning though is done hands on, just doing the things and learning as I go.. or as I like to say,
“Learn As You GROW!” 🌱🌿🪴🌳

You can do anything you want when you decide you can. If you think you can’t, you won’t…. but, if you believe you WILL, you’ll do whatever you set your mind to.

Trying new things is exciting! ♥️

Fun boat maintenance! 🧽🤿

Although it’s windy AF. We saw 33 knots just motoring over to throw the anchor out. ⚓️⛵️
We’re swinging all over the place, but holding steady in the sand so far!
What a beauty day for a swim!

Boating is fun, but holy shnikies there’s a lot of things to do all the time!
Yesterday and today we’ve been sewing up the bimini and dodger, fixing a few popped seams and loose zippers… got the dodger back on and realized we still have some spots we missed.
Yesterdays dirty job was replacing the joker on the head (the one-way valve on the toilet)… urine everywhere.
That was fun. 😅

It’s not always so glorious, but the work is totally worth it for these beauty days! ☀️
Also keeps us active 💗

We had the best day! ♥️

Fantastic day on the water yesterday!
My body is so sore from raising sails, but man is it ever a cool experience!
The kids and I are completely learning from the beginning… just jump in and DO.
Feel the fear and do it anyway.. THAT.
Because YES, I’m way out of my comfort zone doing something that is totally out of my wheelhouse. 😅
But I’m here for it! 💙⛵️

Sailed for the first time as a family, EVER.
Anchored for the first time, ever.
Spent the entire day on the boat and BBQ’d on it for the first time… ever! Yup.

I learned how difficult it can be preparing meals/food underway.. and washing dishes! 🤣🤣🤣

The sail TO our destination for the music fest was very light winds, and sadly the wind died off right near the end so we had to motor in the rest of the way.
But most of our sail to SOM was decent with our colourful drifter up, about 5-6 knots of true wind… we putted along at 2-3 knots. 🐌
Decent for beginners.

On the way home however, the wind picked up to 20-23 knots! Woohoo.
We were sailing at 5-6 knots, which is what we call “actually sailing” 😂
The wind was changing directions so we had to tack a few times, and even contemplated motor-sailing for the last hour because of all the wind direction changes. But we asked the universe for a steady wind in our marina’s direction and said we’d wait a little longer and see…. And BAM! The wind swooped in, steady in the direction we asked for! 🙌🏽🥳🙌🏽
Thank yooooooouuuu Universe!!

The toe rail didn’t dip into the water, but it was close!! Noah smacked his head a couple times (he’s 6’5” - bound to happen), and Elijah almost rolled off the couch in the saloon 😂
The sail home was AMAAAAZEBALLS!

We were a great team bringing the sails down, getting fenders back on, and prepping our lines at our ‘stations’ ready to dock. Mark is exceptional with his boating experience (26 years ago he was a sailing instructor, but has been sailing for 39 years since a toddler), and got our 30 foot vessel right into our slip on the first attempt. The 3 of us crew hopped off and did our duties securing the boat.
High-fives all around!

What a magical day!

Happy Father’s Day! 💙

Yes, I’ve been quiet on here and even temporarily deactivated my account for about a month. I’ve been taking time to heal from my abdominal surgery and got the last of my stitches removed from my eye… AND our boat went in the water on May 11th, so it’s been go-go-go getting it all ready for the season.

Lots still to do, but the deep cleaning is done and we’re putting things back together. Today we sail to SOM!!!
(Sound of Music)

Since I was young, seeing all the boats anchored out for the music festival… I ALWAAAAAYS have wanted to do that!!
Now, for the first time.. we ARE!!
We have a sailboat!

Our first sail today as a family since the boys were toddlers. Super exciting!

No loose stitches, no dry spots, no scaring or tears, no signs of reinfection or donor tissue rejection!! 🥳👁🎉

Hallelujah! 💫💗💕✨✨

As all continues to go well over the next 30 days, we might be able to start taking stitches out in October!!!!!
Woohoo!!

Just a few weeks left in this season with Just A Dream Too.
It’s a tough transition for my father in law parting with his vessel. He’s just turned 84 a few weeks ago and he’s been sailing his entire life. We don’t think his sailing days will be over, just transitioning into a different phase of life.

We are honoured to continue his legacy and create new memories.

It’s been a little while since our sea legs were strong, but it’s all coming back. Seeing my son on the boat again enjoying himself was melting my heart. As wee babes, he and his brother spent many summers down at the marina’s. We would catch up with the crew at C&C regatta’s, go for sails over Lake Ontario and as wee kids they loved swimming off the boat.

We hope to create a lot more memories as we go, discovering the many adventures along the way.
