▶️This week we attended a workshop event for the Culture Plan Update. We feel a large portion of the music scene in Barrie is underrepresented in our community so we were happy to see other voices like ours there, sharing their experiences and ideas.
▶️We hope will START making city funding and city events more accessible to ALL genres and artists and STOP using the criteria of "family friendly" as a barrier for the alternative/underground/unpopular/new/etc talent in our city.
▶️Many of us in the 'underground' scene aren't looking to gain popularity but it would be nice to have spaces to play that are accepting and encouraging of ALL art.
▶️As an independent and DIY label, we make efforts to support artists in our community whether we work with them or not. Don't be shy in giving feedback to our city officials or local businesses/events that have an opportunity to showcase ALL types of local music so they can do the same.
