Episode 4 is out TODAY! Go listen to it! (link in bio). My guest Michelle and I discuss the creativity in starting a business, and challenges around drawing boundaries in the early days (and honestly, just ongoing!)

Here's a bit about Michelle:

I'm a Virtual Assistant who works primarily with Realtors. I started MicNic Remote at the beginning of 2021 and originally started as a general VA. I wasn't too sure how to navigate the space or even how to run my own business. I did a bunch of research and sent out 4 emails to small business/solo entrepreneurs just to see what sort of tasks they would outsource if they could. I received 3 emails back and signed 3 clients before I even had my business name registered.

I've had a variety of jobs over the years and leading up to my entrepreneurship path. Liking them all or aspects of them all but always felt something was missing. When the pieces of MicNic Remote started to fall into place, I realized that everything I had done leading up starting my business was just preparing me for it. So many things started to make sense and click and I felt like this was what I was supposed to be doing the whole time - but not any sooner than what it happened.

I love being a part of other small businesses, supporting them and watching them succeed. I love helping with systems, processes, paperwork, organization, and just the day-to-day tasks that need to be done. The best part about working with the clients that I do, is the constant appreciation I receive from them.

Episode 4 is airing TOMORROW! I can't wait for you to hear my discussion with

Here's a piece of our conversation:
"I mean, when I started my business, everyone's always like, they're expecting you to grow and expand and do all these things. And I started my business not to build an empire or anything like that. I started it as a means to an end. I wanted to create something for myself, because I couldn't find anything that checked all my boxes, I guess. And I created it. I can change it. I can do whatever." - Michelle

Season 2, Episode 3 is OUT NOW! "Moving Past Mental Blocks"

Here's a bit about my guest Cathy Davis:

With more than 20 years of experience working in a successful, dynamic, entrepreneurial organization, Cathy thrives at the center of innovation in her role as Lead Program Architect at Strategic Coach®. Since 1988, Strategic Coach has been on the forefront of global entrepreneurial coaching, providing clients with a framework for building an extraordinary life. As a key member of the core executive team, Cathy works closely with the owners to design, strategize, and execute the company’s bigger future vision.

Outside of work, her happiest days are spent in some combination of eating, reading, listening to music, playing games, bingeing shows, hiking around, watching all the sports, and sipping a glass of Sancerre with her husband — preferably tucked away in their cozy Airstream with their sweet little beagle in tow. Transplants to Winnipeg (since 2011), they travel a lot (for work and pleasure) but love having this community to come home to.

Season 2, Episode 3 is OUT TOMORROW! My guest Cathy Davis and I discuss mental blocks or 'traps' that entrepreneurs get stuck in. Cathy has tips, tricks and hacks to expedite getting through these blocks!
Here's a bit from the episode:

"Setting really strong boundaries for yourself, so you can leverage yourself so that you can take advantage of the things that are most important to you to get to that next level. Because without boundaries, you are at the will of tons of outside outside forces and factors that are going to do whatever they can to doom and gloom ruin you." - Cathy Davis

TUNE IN TOMORROW!

🎤NEW EPISODE 🎤

Do you think having a tagline for your business should be funny or convey your business’s values? and I discuss the purpose of taglines, and how to make marketing memorable!

📢When I asked Sarah whether she thought tag-lines were still relevant for business owners she said:

“I think they help, kind of, round out what the business is about. And they're pretty difficult like to really sum up what you're about in a word to, you know, maybe 10 words at most. I think there's still some relevance to it. You know, for us we’re Bockstael construction- so that kind of tells you what it is. But to add another layer to it by adding in the “Manitoba’s Builder” I think there's an element to be able to get beyond just the name of your business and try and show a little bit more who you are.”
