LAWS Advocates LAWS Advocates are a group of Kaska members selected by LAWS to work with the community and advocate on vital Indigenous matters affecting First Nation People.

The group joined in December 2021 and has since then hosted many cultural workshops.

Liard Aboriginal Women’s Society (LAWS) is a non-profit, community based organization founded by strong, powerful Kaska women in 1998. Since then LAWS has expanded and worked towards ending violence against Indigneous women and children, restoring cultural identity and breaking colonial impacts. The society has been recognized by major platforms such Google and CBC, as well as being featured in many news articles. The Kaska Advocates are a group of Aboriginal members selected by LAWS to work with the community and advocate on vital Indigenous matters affecting First Nation people.
So what have the Kaska Advocates been doing? The group joined together in December 2021 and has then attended Court Watch, hosted a drum making workshop, a traditional moccasin making workshop, a traditional mitt making workshop, and a meat cutting event where they distributed meat to Kaska elders and other community members in need. They’ve also co-hosted a MMIWG2S+ community event.
