Why I really wanted to circle back to the pandemic and the reaction to it was due to the way we all treated each other.

Although neither side acted correctly the worst is when you called out every day logical things, people got big mad. Why?

Nothing they were doing made sense then and after seeing the aftermath… still not mathing fam.

& what scares me deep in my soul is how there is this new thing where people can’t even agree to disagree anymore.

You are still labelled and discussions end because people still can’t emotionally regulate differences.

They kept healthy people away from things that kept them healthy & let places who further addiction, depression and unhealthy eating open.

Until we have more people realizing the BS that just happened there, we could be doomed to repeat.

No thank you!

No matter what, informed consent is all I care about.

For women to just know their options.

To know that sickness and illness could come of these.

And if that’s still what you wanna do, I honestly don’t wanna stop you.

But I refuse to be quiet about BII because it can always make help someone feel heard, seen, validated and not alone.

So many suffer in silence and I want to be a place they can share their stresses, messes and successes.

A friend who just wants to make sure you know all the things so you can make the best decision for you.

It’s a shame those who offer these services rarely care about that. It’s all about the 💰.

05/01/2024

On our final advocacy episode of the season, we bring an amazing woman on to share her journey with Breast Implant Illness & Breast Cancer.

Stephanie, like our past guests, was not informed of the potential risks associated with Breast Implants.

As far as she knew, she got the safest ones.

However, after swapping from saline to silicone 8 years after her original implant, her health started slowly declining.

When she did they swap, they noticed fluid around her implants, unsure exactly what it was they decided to go ahead with the switch.

Dial ahead to 2019, Stephanie finds herself in a group of 50-100K women with the same issues, leading to Breast Implant illness.

She does her research, finds herself a surgeon she trusts and BAM, lockdowns. Luckily in early 2020 she was able to line up a surgeon closer to home and aligned with her needs but a few weeks later gets hit with another blow.

Breast cancer.

This woman is a powerhouse survivor and a beauty of a human being.

Join her and I as we discuss her entire journey, her battles and her victories.

A story with a feel good ending and a warrior born out of her pain. 👏

When it comes to what’s best for your body, you know. I don’t want to tell anyone what to do but I find it super predatory that surgeons will jump to implants after someone has breast cancer.

& that is not to say they shouldn’t have that choice but I’ve heard more than once the story line of “to look more feminine you might want implants” as if it’s the only option.

We are so beyond glad to hear that Stephanie was able to avoid the toxic bags that may have got her cancer in the first place and opt for a treatment more aligned to what she felt comfortable with.

Although not everyone is eligible for these types of procedures, it should always be advocated for first IMO. Specially to those who had troubles with implants in the past.

Deep flaps or fat transfers seem the be the less invasive path.

Whatever you choose to do, just do so informed ♥️

Make sure you tune in tomorrow for this awesomely inspirational episode with Stephanie.

As previously mentioned, this powerhouse woman has had a rollercoaster ride when it comes to her chest.

After having no apparent issues with her first round of saline implants, to swapping out to silicone 8 years later with a hint of “we don’t know what’s happening in your right breast but let’s proceed anyways” to explanting a decade later and finding out she has breast cancer to a deep flap surgery.

What a ride for this warrior. So much physical, mental and spiritual healing had to happen for her to be here with us now.

And y’all. Look at how much she glows now though!

Truly was an honour to listen to Stephanie’s story and so so thankful she chose to take her story to advocacy because no one deserves to go through this. We can’t do much about the past but we can help the future.

Awareness is key babes.

I absolutely love the mentality Stephanie has about her entire journey.

On Friday we will be releasing our next BII episode featuring an insanely inspiring woman.

Not only has she faced breast implant illness, she also faced breast cancer and yet you can see the happiness just radiate off of her.

She’s in her healing and advocacy era my babes and we are living for it.

Although she’s gone through so much, her mindset is always being grateful that it wasn’t worse.

What a queen.

I hope you’ve had some time to reflect on the year you have had and note all the good and bad.

I hope you’ve had time to set some intentions for 2024 and ready to hit all your seasons for another tour around the sun.

Whether your goals are big or small, set them anyways!

The feeling of gratitude for yourself when you’ve completed a goal is an underused drug IMO.

So happy into the new year we go ok?! ♥️

I feel like a big part of how people struggle with food comes down to our mindset around it.

As does Lori.

We know this because we’ve had our own AHA moments with food and just want others to feel this way too!

We’ve had the comments before, whether it’s “oh wow you actually eat “bad” food??” “If you want to get pregnant, you better eat!” Or “sure doesn’t look like you eat food like that!”.

Extremely odd comments most people don’t even know they say but if you don’t take control over your mindset with this, it’ll take you out.

It’s so easy to blame your habits/choices (and sometimes rightfully so!) on your environment, your parents, your kids, your childhood, tons of things but what’s even easier in the end…. admitting you aren’t perfect, letting go of being perfect and just working on yourself every day. Celebrate the wins and evaluate the losses strategically.

In this state of mind, no one comments, including your own, can hurt you. You know your weaknesses. You know your strengths. And you know you are actively working on you so none of those comments should affect you. That’s a them problem, ya know?

At the end of the day we all have choices. And depending on us individually, that will affect our lives. Whether we like it or not so for me, I can decide to hate myself and treat myself like s**t, and take in all the comments about my body OR… I can not give a flying hoot what anyone (especially the worse version of me) thinks because I know I am leaning into what I do well and working on what I don’t. Unapologetically and we encourage you to do the same.

The later option doesn’t leave you in a vicious cycle of people pleasing.

Lori is an amazing, real coach. Not one that is gonna let you run wild without accountability but one who is going to not only provide the tools you need but teach you how to implement them through the ups and downs so you are equipped for LIFE. Not just one goal. One challenge. She’s here to set you up for the rest of your existence, if YOU choose ♥️

And that’s why we love her so.

Our last episode of 2023 is such a great one to start the new year off right!

I am joined by Macro Mckay’s fearless leader Lori to talk about food, dieting and mindsets.

We all struggle with our nutrition.

Specially around the holidays.

But here’s the best part!

We don’t have to!

We can hire amazing coaches like Lori to help us rebuild our relationship with food through macros.

Learn that food isn’t “bad” and eating should be exciting and something to look forward to.

Food is amazing in the way it can heal but there’s also a line where it can be destructive too.

It’s all about balancing and that is exactly what Lori is here to teach you through her business.

She’s not only has she walked the walk, she genuinely cares about her clients on levels you don’t normally see.

Join us in this amazing convo to help you get in the best mindset for the new years!

I think it’s super important for us as adults to visit our past if we are caught up with making changes in our diets.

A lot of unresolved pain and bad habits form at a very young age for a lot of us and without awareness of it, it can truly fester into deep issues.

For some, there was a lot of restrictions and words used like “bad foods” or worse, body shaming based on said provided food that have people over analyzing themselves today.

For some, there was no education for value of food or understanding the importance of eating healthy and having to learn that as adults after years of not so healthy choices. Which is so hard!

Some lived in poverty and had no choice on what they ate while other used it as emotional tool and had an abundance to choose from with no boundaries.

All of these can form life long habits and thoughts about healthy eating and food in general that we may not realize.

Most grow in thinking their childhoods were normal. Until they share and find out.. Maybe not! But that’s ok.

Once you know you can only work on it right?

Another reason having a coach like Lori can help you identify your thought patterns and trigger foods/people/things so you don’t have to feel trapped by them and work with them.

The science of macros!

Can’t wait for you guys hear this one tomorrow!

I think it’s always a good investment to hire a coach when learning something new or trying to be accountable.

Most coaches, like Lori, have been through it all and can not only help educate you but also help you learn your behaviours and help you understand why you do the things you do.

These coaches spend time continually learning to educate their clients and at the same time, live and breath their preachings so then can help you navigate the things science can’t always teach you. Real life is no joke sometimes and also very personal to each human.

So while Lori is teaching her clients the breakdown for macros and how they are unique to each person she also shares real life road blocks and ways to still live a happy life while chasing your goals.

Helping others reframe from thinking things are “bad” like food or the scale to seeing their value. Mindset truly is such a huge piece to a successful health life.

She spends a lot of her time collecting data and using that to help clients detect personal patterns and ways to correct it.

Macros has such a science and data driven component that my theoretical side just screams with happiness! How best to correct something then observing and re evaluating and trying again? Just like all things in life right?

On our final epsiode of 2023, we bring on a returning bombshell to chat about Food!

Lori, the leader of Macro Mckay, was just like most of us who feel overwhelmed when it comes to learning about nutrition.

Overwhelmed with info and inundated with “easy fixes” most people give up or try something new and create a yo-yo cycle.

Lori was there too.

Until she learned about macros 5 years ago and her world changed.

Now she helps others do the same and learn how to strengthen their relationship with food, their bodies and their mindsets.

Perfect way to start the last weekend of 2023!

As we discussed in the final Being Real with episode of the year, Bill C-18 could maybe mean nothing.

It’s going to be very important that we hold all politicians accountable in protecting free speech.

Even if I don’t agree with you, I believe you have the right to believe it.

So if we want it for us, we are gonna have to support it for others.

That’s always so important when looking at these types of issues.

Make sure to always try to put yourself in others shoes.

And let’s make sure the shoes representing our country next is one who understands this concept.

Happy Holidays all!

Our last being real with before the Christmas break is with fellow podcaster Christopher Balkaran who hosts the Open Minds Podcast.

It was so great to connect to another Canadian podcaster as we navigate these uncharted waters here in this country of ours. As citizens and content creators.

In this 2 hour real chat, we talk about so many different topics like how the media has been unable to provide unbiased reporting, how this country has taken measures we never expected in our lifetime and how Christopher navigates speaking his mind while being fair and understanding to all and open to discussions on the hard topics.

Such a great episode on real life and online experiences as podcasters in Canada.

Hopefully the first of many collaborations!

Why can’t we just have adult conversation anymore?

Why can’t we just be like “ok cool dude, don’t relate but you do you” kinda vibe?

What’s with this “we must all agree or you are kicked out of society” thing?

And we display our disappointment of that by going straight to the most vicious comments and threats??

No thanks. I’d rather be living in a graceful, kind, growing type environment but that’s just me 😂

And I will continue to lead by example and do my best with being open to disagreement without envisioning violence but baby steps right?

We are so on board with this vision Christopher has for his show where he doesn’t discuss things coming from one side or the other.

Just discussing topics as humans.

Without the polarizing politics.

There are so many shows out there that usually have a political agenda or leaning one way or another.

Heck even we would be consider a right wing podcast for sure although we try to be balanced too.

I think it’s important to have a variety of opinions on the table.

It truly ensures more people are heard and represented.

I think this is such a great point my mom made.

After every thing every generation has gone through with mental health, why hasn’t anyone been taught how to self love?

Why isn’t that apart of the curriculum?

Why is it immediately and overwhelmingly about one group and not all around body positivity and love for all? As if all kids don’t suffer from one or the other.

I think everyone could use it.

Some support how to accept the body you were given for the many reasons it makes you unique.

I get very confused with the notion of be yourself but here change everything about how you were biologically born to be who you are.

Weren’t we getting away from the mentality of hating the body we are in?

We not… oh we not doing that anymore?

Missed the memo.

15/12/2023

This next Being Real with episode, I jump in with my mom, her bestie and a childhood friend of mine to talk about being a mama in Port Alberni currently and all the chaos they are witnessing as parents.

From the school system to the media to the medical industry to the entertainment business, there seems to be an influx of need to have pure acceptance of everything sexualized, specifically to young kids.

At this point in time, parents are not allowed to ask questions or have valid concerns without being labelled with some extreme title.

No one wants to be labelled a bigot, homophobe or transphobe for simply asking questions so it seems many parents sit in silence, afraid to speak up.

If we want progression and inclusion and equity, we have to ensure all voices come to the table and we work together to make everyone feel good.

Everyone deserves love and safety there is no doubt about that.

But we don’t do it by fighting and hate. We do it by coming to the table like adults and seeing all sides and having compassion for those we disagree with and equally evaluating we may not be right either and that’s ok!

We can coexist but we have to be open to it. But the hard talks have to happen.

That’s my hope for 2024.

Loved having this chat with those that feel like home!

Another stellar point made in this conversation.

There are many different teachings depending on your religion and/or culture and instead of honouring that, it’s like erasing those ancient understandings and the uniqueness they have.

Whether that be the energy of ancestors, your spiritual self, your nature by environment, it’s hard for us to say leaning one or the other mean gender confusion. Couldn’t maybe be something else?

Perhaps it’s your great aunts or grand mothers guiding you along emotional times or perhaps your grandfathers guiding you through the hard ones.

Maybe it’s your higher self or a higher power?

Perhaps you didn’t have a father so you had to be more masculine as a young girl. So you now show up only as you know, as a protector.

Perhaps you were abused and want to never be the gender you are, or maybe you don’t want to be gay but are.

So many different walks and stories and understandings out there, are we sure we want to just go head first into “wrong body” as the default answer?

Can we maybe search the others before making medical decisions that maybe will have long term affects?

Is that a common ground we can come to here?

I also find it very hard to hear when children are told they are in the wrong body.

Yes of course there are going to be individuals with gender confusion but is it the right approach to repeat they are born in the wrong body & immediately affirm it gender dysphoria rather than look deeper?

Isn’t telling a child any part of them is wrong or bad a little harsh on them? Isn’t that the opposite of self love and self exploration? Isn’t that what youth is?

Exploring who you are and what you like? What your personality is?

I find it hard to believe telling them they were made wrong at such a young age is a little misleading to them. How could you possibly know that’s true?

Just because someone has thoughts and feelings doesn’t mean it’s their honest truth. Could be alot of things. Could be truly gender dysphoria. But let’s take time to observe that not medicate immediately.

I stand by that with anything medical.

Wouldn’t it be safer to open up dialogue and let them explore in ways that are expressive yet not permanent or damaging to them?

Why isn’t only this form of mental illness that is praised and affirmed but we take a completely different approach to those with other forms of body dysmorphia?

I have many questions as always!

Join us for an amazing chat with 3 mama’s from my hometown 🥰
