🎓 SPECIAL GRADUATION EDITION 👩‍🎓

The June 27th issue of Cumberland Life is going to be a Special Graduation Edition featuring our local graduates from Advocate District School, Amherst Regional High School, Oxford Regional Education Centre, Parrsboro Regional High School, Pugwash District High School, River Hebert District High School and Springhill Junior-Senior High School – where each school will have a page branded in their school colours.

Many local businesses and organizations have been lining up to publicly show their support for our 2022 graduating classes in this issue, and we cannot wait for you all to receive this special edition of our community newspaper!

The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, June 21st at 12pm. There are a limited number of spaces and graduates will be added to their school pages on a first come-first serve basis, so please act quickly to avoid missing out - as many of the pages are filling up fast!! We are now on the 4th edition of our community newspaper, and you may have noticed that we have placed QR codes throughout it. For those of you unfamiliar with how they work, here is a quick video explaining how to use them.

1. Find a QR code you would like to scan.
2. Grab your smartphone or tablet.
3. Open your camera app.
4. Point the camera at the QR code and tap whatever pops up on the screen.
5. Enjoy the digital content.

QR codes allow us to create an interactive experience for our readers. Now you can view a real estate listing and be taking a 360 tour of the home within seconds, or continue reading an article you started in the paper on your phone later on. You can read an article and be watching a video about it on your smart device within seconds of discovering it.

A great example is in Issue #1 of our newspaper which featured an article about a music video shot here in Cumberland County for local artist Christopher Brown (seen in this video). Check out his page to watch the rest of this video and support a local artist!

We hope this helps everyone enjoy more of our news, stories and digital content in the future.

There are no words eloquent enough to mend the heart of someone who has lost somebody they love. Time, as they say, is the only great healer. 💔

The Team here at Cumberland Life has received feedback from hundreds of people in our community who would appreciate the opportunity to attend a farewell for someone they know, or celebrate someone’s life – the problem is that there was not a local obituaries page for them to receive the sad news or spread the joy of their life… that is until now.

We have decided to create a space that allows families and friends to celebrate the lives of the ones they love but have tragically lost.

We also hope that our obituaries page serves as a reminder to us all to:

Count our blessings,

Cherish the ones we love,

Be grateful for the memories we’ve made,

And appreciate each day we are fortunate enough to be alive!

Massive CONGRATULATIONS to last editions "Featured Team" the Cumberland Crushers Basketball Club. This weekend their U12 Div. 6 Girls Basketball Team were crowned Provincial Champions!! Huge congratulations to 7-year-old Audrey Partridge, who is the winner of the colouring completion in Issue #1 of Cumberland Life. Audrey will receive a $20 gift card to Birkinshaw's - tea room, coffee house, restaurant and catering services where she can enjoy a selection of delicious treats!

Issue #2 is out now, and the deadline for entires is tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon. To enter your child’s masterpiece into the competition, simply take a picture of it and email it to [email protected] with their name, age and community they live in. Our expert 3-year-old judge will then pick the lucky winner who will be rewarded with a gift card to a local business. Please share this on your page to allow more local children to join in on the colouring fun 😊
