Feeling sad after hearing this. I had been in communication with their manager in January, in regards to Brighton Rock performing at our fundraiser and had the opportunity to meet him after their last Hamilton show a few years ago, such a nice guy.

In these uncertain times where wearing a mask and being out of work is the norm, the certainties of any future live musical performances remain dim. As live music venues have been forced to close due to COVID-19, Hamilton musicians have no place to play, no chance of remuneration, unable to afford a recording studio and must not sing moistly.
It is with regret, the Board of Directors of the Greater Hamilton Music Industry Awards have decided to cancel efforts for a 2020 awards program. However, we have rescheduled the celebration for September 2021. Until that time, we welcome your comments and ideas.
We thank everyone who took the time to submit their nomination. All submissions that were made to date will be contacted.

UPDATE......
I spoke with management yesterday, in regards to our fundraiser in June and awards ceremony in September, as they will be held at The Studio. They informed me we're considered a low risk so they reassured me we'll be okay to continue our events but I'll be in touch with them from now to June and the status of the COVID-19.

Today, March 13, 2020, Ontario health officials urged a temporary ban on gatherings of 250 people or more to help slow the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
As a result, Core Entertainment and its venues: FirstOntario Centre, FirstOntario Concert Hall, and The Studio will be postponing or cancelling all gatherings until further notice.
We are currently working to reschedule upcoming performances and will provide updates as quickly as possible.
Please note, fans are encouraged to retain their tickets until the new date is announced. Please watch for an email to come from Ticketmaster with the information on how to request a ticket refund, should you not be able to make the new date.
The safety and well-being of our employees, partners, performers, athletes, guests, and community is our top priority.
We will continue to follow recommendations from the Ontario Ministry of Health, Ontario Government and local authorities as the situation develops.
Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated. We will email patrons directly regarding the status of each performance as details are confirmed. The most up-to-date status for each event will be available on our website.

The Greater Hamilton Music Industry Awards is a revamped version of the Hamilton Music Awards with new management, a new look, new concept, new awards, new venue and a new vibe within Hamilton’s music scene.
We intend to create a unique event that will showcase the multiple facets of the music industry in Hamilton as well as bring to light the products and brands of our valued sponsors.
We have made it our top priority to have an event that will be of the highest standards and the quality of the award nominees and winners will be top class.
We are looking forward to celebrating Hamilton’s great talent with you!
Due to an unintended slight for which we apologize, we are changing the name of The Steel City Music Awards to represent the celebration of diversity, inclusiveness and the talents of all facets of the Hamilton Ontario music industry.
