Sure, the algorithm is has its own set of constants ... like how it's constantly changing. Which also means that chasing the algorithm will have your head spinning.

This energy is better spent learning more about your followers.

When you know your followers, and your content resonates with your followers, the algorithm will notice.

So much more room for activities! 🤩

We are huge fans of carousels and these recent and upcoming updates are way exciting for us and our clients.

With the expansion of carousel frames, we are able to dive further into storytelling, creating a deeper connection with our digital communities.

Our favourite of these updates, though, is the allowance of multiple formats in one carousel. While the majority of social media content is captured and posted in vertical (portrait) format, there will always be horizontal content knocking at the door and begging to be used alongside it.

Picnic is ONE y’all! 🥹

Officially, the picnic-versary was July 17, and I’ve spent weeks going back and forth with how to celebrate (if I should celebrate) because it’s 𝑜𝓃𝓁𝓎 been a year.

PAUSE.

Earlier this week, one of the other business owners in our building popped their head into my office and said “Congratulations on your first year in business. Look at you, one year in and already in your own office space!”

Then it hit me …

Patricia, do you even know how much you’ve done in one year?! 🤯

Over the last 365 days, I have:
✨ transformed part-time freelancing into a full-time sole proprietorship
✨ moved from my living room to an office
✨ purchased new or upgraded existing equipment to support the ever-changing industry
✨ created work that I am SO FREAKING PROUD OF
✨ made new friends, connections, and memories

… and I have so many exciting things planned for this next 365 days I almost can’t hold them all in (but I will for now, just to keep y’all on your toes!)

Thank you to all my clients for trusting me. You’re my faves. Truthfully 🫶

The way these teeny icons have evolved and become part of everyday communication is 🤯 mind blowing tbh.

Their use is even being included far beyond digital usage. Remember (8 years ago) when Deadpool was coming out in theatres and their billboard campaign was simply "💀💩L"? So simple, so silly, so genius.

In this heat, we hope it's iced tea 🥵

Our little hearts get a little flutter when we see the carousel icon because we know we're about to learn something, feel something, see something(s).

On top of the education and engagement that comes from these multi-slide posts, we love the opportunity for storytelling with this type of content.

We're also seeing carousels come out on top when it comes to engagement rates - yup, even over reels.

This one's a hot topic 🔥

Seriously. It's getting people fired up all over the internet.

Instagram recently launched ad breaks (which is currently on trial), which basically force audiences to watch the ad for a certain amount of time before resuming their scroll.

This is raising many discussions from both sides of the social media universe - the consumers and the marketers.

As consumers on a monetarily free platform (I say monetarily free, because many of us don't consider our time free) should we be super bummed about having to sit through a brief ad period? What if we were given the option to pay for the platform? What else would you expect to see from Instagram/Meta if you DID pay a subscription for an ad-free experience?

As marketers, we can use this as a lesson. Is this an opportunity to revisit how we're creating ads for social media? A chance for the industry to have some good, creative fun?!
