All who acknowledge their sinful, helpless estate and throw themselves upon Christ will be fully pardoned, declared righteous, and reconciled to God. This is the gospel of God and Jesus Christ, His Son.

We studied the birth and sacrifice of Isaac and the C. 2066 B.C. the girls learned about different Sacrifices & Offerings (things I thought I also know 😅)
For Geo, we learned about United States, their flags and some destinations. I learned a LOT today myself.
Homeschooling benefits the parents as well 😉

What did you learn with the kids today?

Wait, what? Joel Osteen & Kenneth Copeland? That’s a BIG RED FLAG 🚩 Definitely AVOID
But if you do not want to hear the truth, definitely avoid Paul Washer & John MacArthur. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Add RC Sproul. 😂😜
Biblical and Reformed does have a point 🤷🏻‍♀️

Migraine sufferer myself 🥰

I used to be the kind of homeschool mom that had a list of “learning activities” my kids could do if I was sick. As a lifelong migraine sufferer and pregnancy-bed rest champion, it happened a lot.

I would make sure the kids read a book, watched an educational video, did a word search or a puzzle, and play with flash cards. Throw in some chores and sandwich making for “home economics” and we’re good, right?

But I was trying to be a school. Early on, I still believed that Monday through Friday were school days, and that my kids had to be doing any kind of school they could. I thought that we should cover each “subject” every day.

I was so wrong.

Winter illnesses are making the rounds. Maybe Mom and Dad are both sick. They fear “getting behind.” Instead of concentrating on rest, food, and recuperation, they’re worried that their kids might not be learning every day.

Mamas, relax. “Behind” is for public school. They made up that system. They created 12 years of 7-hour days, and grade levels, and benchmarks, and state tests. A whole bunch of it is totally unnecessary. Most of your homeschool curriculum follows that made up system to make you feel like you’re doing it right.

Ignore the dates on your curriculum guide. Forget about September through May. Just keep moving forward. Rest when you need to. Let the kids be school-free for a couple of weeks. They will learn plenty of other important things during this time.

You are a family. Even when you’re sick. Be a family in pajamas, sleeping in, watching movies, eating soup, and praying together. This will pass, and there will be plenty of time for lessons.
