Layers of Buildings

As I was looking around for what I can take a photo of, the brightness of the coppery coloured building in the background caught my eye. Thinking that using the tree to the left would be a good thing to use to frame the photo, I went with taking it in portrait mode.

The Bench and the Sun

What drew me to taking this photo is how the sun looks and the sunlight that is visible throughout the snow.

.mtl had an event last week (Saturday January 25 2025), where we got together and went to take pictures. We started at the Bonaventure metro in Montreal, and ended up going to a bar. I've been in this area quite a few times, and it was nice having an event here where we got together as a group to take some photos!

Lines

Seeing the untouched snow on the bench with the lines on the area where one sits, it stood out to me. I took a photo at this angle, liking how it turned out.

The Light Fixture

I felt that taking a photo of the back of this light fixture would be something different.

The Bridges

I was walking around beneath two train bridges. Being under one, I thought it would be nice to include both of them while focusing on the one further from me.

Tree of Green

This tree stood out from the trees around it. After taking several photos of it with different settings, I didn’t think the green would stand out as much as it did.

Shining Buildings

Like last week’s photo, I thought it would be nice to have another one where sunlight is reflecting off of buildings. While there are areas of shadow in this one, the bright sunlight is prominent.

Reflective Windows

Being out later on in the day, I noticed how the sun was reflecting on buildings. What stood out with the building here was how the windows reflect the sunlight.

Dark Sky and Buildings

This might be the only time I took pictures with my DSLR (so far) while it was starting to get dark out. On my walk, I saw this set of buildings and liked how the cloudy sky took up the rest of the photo.

I made a calendar for 2025. For each month, I used a photo I took.
They are being sold at Phoenix Books (5928 Sherbrooke O, Montreal). They are $15 each.

Two Lights

Standing in this spot and looking up, I thought it would be nice to take a picture of both the light from the sky and the light from the building. After taking a few photos from a few different angles, I thought this one would be nice to share.

Somewhat Faraway Bench

One of the many things I like to take photographs of is benches. I took a few of the one in this photo. What made me choose to post this one is that I wanted to change it up a bit. The others I posted have a bench/benches in the foreground. With this photo, it gives something else as being the main focus. That, and the teal looking needles of the tree is a colour that I enjoy.

Unfortunately my battery got so low that I wasn’t able to take as many pictures as I would have liked to. With that being said, it still was a fun time!

Yellow

What has drawn me to taking this picture is how much yellow is present. If it was either the signs or leaves, I feel that it wouldn’t stand out as much when comparing it to having both present.

Don’t Forget to Pay

As I was walking, thinking of what to take a picture of, I see the parking pay station across the street. I decided to see what I could do with it. Trying to make it the main subject of the photo, I realize that I can position myself in a way so that it would remain centred not only by having it in the middle of the photo, but also in between the building to the left and right.
