Saturday Lunch .baraperitivo 🤌🏽
Walking into the bright and beautifully ornate Bar Aperitivo is an absolute delight. The decor is breathtaking, personal and chic. We were seated at the communal marble table in the centre of the space, and imagine my surprise when there in the corner was himself!
Here are some of my recommendations:
1. The Firenze is undoubtedly a perfect sandwich. The wonderfully crisp, airy, yet soft Schiacciata bread is made in house and just addictive. Layered with peppery arugula, creamy stracciatella, salsa verde and truffle crema, the highlight is the meaty, salty and umami goodness of slices of prosciutto cotto with truffles. This sandwich is a dream! For $23 it is a decent size, and my sister and I agreed that we will be back just to eat this again.
2. Since Buratta has been all over social media in the last few years, we were excited to finally try it. The cheese was creamy, light and refreshing, but the star of the show was the pesto base finished with a drizzle of extra-virgin olive oil. The pesto was perfectly balanced and delicious. This is served with Schiacciate bread on the side, and I couldn't get enough ($24).
3. We also had a couple of orders of the Prosciutto which was fatty, salty and sliced to perfection. A great addition to the meal overall ($15).
4. For dessert we had the Tiramisu. When I say, this is one of the best that I've had in the city, I'm not exaggerating. It's light, creamy and perfectly sweet. Every element works harmoniously, none overpowering the others. Coffee, Chocolate, and Mascarpone. It was so delicious that we ordered an additional tub to take home ($14).
When I was a teenager, it was so fascinating to see such a famous Canadian explore my Goan heritage through our vibrant and diverse food and culture. If you have the opportunity, I would highly recommend checking out David Rocco's Dolce India, it's a wonderful show.
Final Rating: 9/10 🤤🔥
We will definitely be visiting again to try the Gelato, Cocktails and other menu items!
