Things have been quiet and I now feel like I’m in a spot to let everyone know.
My brother mark was at work he was having chest pains. He thought he was fine but with someone very close to him making the decision to have mark taken to the Emerg, exactly 1 minute after walking into the ER, Mark suffered a major heart attack and his heart completely stopped. They were unable to find a pulse and Immediately did everything to bring mark back to life in the emergency room. They told us when we arrived that he had less the 5% chance of making the long trip to Kitchener for emergency surgery.
Mark is now in Kitchener, has had surgery to repair an artery that was 100% blocked and currently sitting in a medically induced coma. He was able to wake up for a small period yesterday and knew we were there but his body and heart need rest. We’ve been able to see him and sit with him but the last couple days have just been too much to deal with letting everyone know. By the grace of god, he’s laying in a bed with his heart beating thanks to the quick decision of a friend at work. Had mark not been taken to the hospital, he would have died at his desk at work. He’s not out of the woods and has recovery ahead of him for quite some time but for right now, the goal is to get him healthy and home.
As most know and have seen, Mark is not only my big brother but my best friend. This has taken a toll on me like nothing else I’ve ever dealt with. My goal was to start off the new year with some pretty big news but that’s not the case. I’ll be quiet for the next while helping my brother get to a full recovery.
