TW: This film deals with assisted su***de, institutionalization and the death of disabled people.

Using Elizabeth Bouvia’s 1983 public fight for the right to die on her own terms as a starting point, filmmaker brings disabled voices to the fore in the discussion of assisted su***de.

While the practice is intended to bring dignity and autonomy to end-of-life, Davenport highlights the growing phenomenon of disabled people who, faced with a myriad of systemic and social barriers and denied the support they need to thrive in society, are turning to assisted su***de as a way out of the suffering that is being forced on them.

With Canada’s own medical assistance in dying (MAID) legislation used as a cautionary example, “Life After”warns against poorly structured care systems for disabled people, unchecked policies around assisted su***de, and the deadly repercussions they are having on disabled people. In a time where the value of disabled lives is once again a contested point of conversation), the centering of disabled perspectives could not come at a more crucial moment.

“Coexistence, My Ass!” follows Israeli activist-comedian Noam Shuster Eliassi as she creates a comedy show by the same name. Shot over five tumultuous years, the film traces Noam’s personal, professional, and political journey in tandem with the region’s steady deterioration.

Raised in a bilingual Israeli-Palestinian village — the only intentionally integrated community in the country — Noam grows disillusioned with traditional peace activism. She pivots to stand-up and quickly attracts attention across the Middle East. But as her star rises, everything around her falls apart. With biting satire, Noam pushes her audiences to face difficult truths that aren’t always funny but do remind us that another reality is possible.

"Tiny Islands" explores a set of magical island hopping adventures across Britain’s greatest hidden treasures. It celebrates the secret places, extraordinary people, surprising jobs, and remarkable local history found across the islands of the United Kingdom.

There are 6,289 islands scattered across these waters, but only 803 are large enough to be drawn on a map. Yet what they lack in size they make up for in character, culture, and community.

With locals and people with specialist knowledge as our guides, we explore these small worlds and uncover their history, traditions, legends, folklore, and wildlife. We visit ancient ruins and modern homes. Monks and artists appear alongside farmers and fishermen.

These rugged and breathtaking landscapes are distinct, each with its own story to tell about Britain. These are the islands of the United Kingdom that Tiny Islands brings to life.

The early AIDS crisis unfolded with almost no public alarm, even as young men died at staggering rates. Partners were barred from hospital rooms, patients were avoided by staff, and health systems offered little care. The epidemic was dismissed because it was happening to gay men, whose suffering was met with silence rather than action.
