There are now mail order tests that promise an estimate of how well you’re ageing, also known as your biological age.

Rather than simply measure the passage of time, biological age aims to quantify the ageing of our body’s functions and even predict mortality. Many scientists and longevity advocates believe this information can not only help us understand our own ageing process, but can give us the power to change it.

So, apparently turtles have figured out how to essentially stop ageing.

You read that right.

Some cold-blooded animals can slow their ageing so effectively that they're essentially not ageing at all. By studying these animals, researchers hope to gain insights that could inform treatments and medicines for human age-related conditions.

Hazel McCallion — businesswoman, former Mississauga mayor and pal of Ontario Premier Doug Ford — was just appointed to a new position at the zestful age of 101 this week. McCallion will now serve as the director and federal representative on the Board of Directors of the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, which operates Toronto Pearson International Airport.

This just goes to show you’re never too old to start something new!

More than one in five working adults is now nearing retirement, which will create significant challenges for Canada's workforce. Plus:

✔️The Canadian population now has a larger share of people aged 55 to 64 than it does of those aged 15 to 24, the age at which people enter the workforce.

✔️In 1966, there were 200 people aged 15 to 24 for every 100 Canadians aged 55 to 64, but that has now been flipped on its head. In 2021, there were only 81 people aged 15 to 24 for every 100 Canadians in the 55 to 64 age group.

Meet Wain. At 32-years-old, he is the oldest wombat in captivity ever. Wain calls the Satsukiyama Zoo in Ikeda City, Japan home and at the equivalent of 100 years old is in remarkably good shape.

"Although he was seen by a vet in the past a couple of times, he never got sick in the past few years," the Satsukiyama Zoo told Guinness World Records in a statement. "We don't know why this is, but this nature-filled and quiet environment this zoo has may have something to do with it."
