I’ve recently been thinking a lot about/ exploring/ dismantling and reconfiguring my identity. It’s wild to think about some of the many components we claim to describe ourselves. There are many boxes to place yourself inside of. Spiritual, cultural, physical, psychological, sexual, gender, economic status, relationship status, artistic, place of origin, place you live currently, the list goes on an on.

When I look at these I see a woman, full of contradictions, light and dark, both polished and gritty, tamed and feral, who is the artist and the art, the creator and the creation, supernatural, a dancer, a fashionista, connection with nature, the body as a medium, movement as medicine, power, softness, growth, reclamation, unapologetic authenticity

What better way to learn about sailboats then to work on a documentary of the refit of Canada’s oldest wooden sailboat??? So grateful to have the opportunity to work with Tobi Elliott - Islands Trustee for Gabriola, Mudge DeCourcy! I’m stoked to be a part of Dorothy’s history and to grow my boat/sailing knowledge.

Dorothy, the oldest functioning and registered boat in Canada returns to water this spring after 20+ years on dry land. The 30-foot sloop built in 1897 in Victoria B.C., is owned by the Maritime Museum of B.C. (MMBC).
