Favorite Beach in the South Okanagan 🏖️

I woke up early, grabbed some Tims and headed for a morning walk. There has been so much talk these days about what our clothes are made of, and it is not pretty. When reached out to me, I knew I wanted to research the sustainability of their brand before saying yes.

Here’s what I learned👇🏽

DU/ER is on a mission to eliminate plastic from their apparel and currently 95% of the fibers used are plant-based or recycled 🌍

Mouth Watering Plant-Based Vegan Nachos 🤤

If there's one thing our entire family can agree on - it's our love for nachos. These mouth watering plant-based nachos are a staple in our home. I love placing the pan in the center of the table, and listening to the kids fight over the cheese and the Beyond Beef from 🌱 Beyond Beef is perfect as it cooks just like ground beef and it's so easy to use!

I N G R E D I E N T S
1 package of Beyond Beef
1 tbsp. taco seasoning
Large amount of Vegan cheddar cheese
1 can black beans, drained
1 bag of your favorite taco chips
1 diced green pepper
2 diced roma tomatoes
1 avocado
Pickled jalapenos

I N S T R U C T I O N S
1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. In a large pan add Beyond Beef and spices. Cook for 5-7 minutes breaking up to desired crumble size. No oil needed.
3. Toast the chips. Place the taco chips on a cookie sheet. Place in oven. Leave in for 3-5 minutes or until you can smell the aroma (this is the secret to making vegan cheese extra melty). Take out of oven.
4. Sprinkle with vegan cheese. Top with Beyond Beef, green pepper, roma tomatoes and black beans. Put back in oven for 5-8 minutes or until cheese is melted. Take out of oven, place on table and let the munching begin! If I have young ones around the table. I will usually transfer to a large plate as the cookie sheet is hot.

N O T E: You can add other toppings such as red onion, olives or cilantro. This recipe has been adapted to what our family enjoys but really the toppings are endless.

Then use these 5 tips:

▫️ Museum webpages. This is where you will get a feel for the town and area. If the history is rich - this is where you will find it.

▫️Google! Search the area which you want to explore and put in key words like "history" "abandoned" "old mines" etc.

▫️Hashtags! Follow and or (followed by the country you are in)

▫️ Follow sweet ass accounts like , .pizza and

▫️Don't get discouraged if you ask where something is and the person refuses to share. This is the fun of it! Some of the best places we have found are from adventuring with no real direction which I highly encourage you to do! Stay safe though!

Best Tiny Towns near📍Puerto Vallarta 🇲🇽 (𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴)

I have never been huge on visiting big cities 🌇 The people, the noise and the traffic gives me anxiety. If you are like me you will love this list of tiny towns surrounding the city of Puerto Vallarta ⬇️

The first 4 towns are easily accessible by bus. Yelapa is only available by water taxi which is available at Boca de Tomatlan.

Top 5 Ways to Travel Cheap in📍Mexico 🇲🇽 (𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴)

One of the reasons I love Mexico is because it is extremely affordable. There is 5 of us, so we are always looking at spots to travel on a budget.

🚍 Ride the bus: Taxis are awesome, but you can save a TON of money if you ride the bus. You can ride the bus for about $0.50 a person and kids are free. Stand on the road in the direction you want to go and wave one down 👋

🌮 Eat with the locals: If you see a ton of locals eating at a taco stand, I can guarantee you they are delicious and cheap. You can usually eat for $2-3 🇨🇦

🏖️ Airbnb: They recently increased their booking fees, but you can still find super cheap deals. It takes hours to w**d through all the listings (reading reviews, messaging the host etc) but it's 💯 worth it to save on some 💰 I recommend asking for a better deal too!

🥾 AllTrails: Instead of booking a tour with a company (usually about $60/person) check out spots on the AllTrails App (free). This app is super popular in Mexico and you can go to some amazing locations.

🍹Drinks: Instead of drinking at the restaurants, grab a few at the grocery store and head down to the beach. Drinks on the beach are extremely pricey ($8 for a Pina Colada).

Best Tips for Jungle Hiking 📍Mexico 🇲🇽 (𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴)

We have been exploring Mexico for 2 months and the hiking here is 👌

🚨 Safety: This is huge. Hiking in a different country is no joke. Stick to popular trails unless you have a guide. My rule of thumb - if the trail starts to get narrow I know it's time to turn around. I also like to make sure I see other people on the trail.

🦟 Bug Spray: There are nasty bugs in the jungle and some carry deadly diseases. Don't head into the jungle without a good quality bug spray.

🥾 Proper Foot Wear: If you saw us in our stories walking barefoot in the jungle, well that's a great example of what not to do. Proper foot wear is a must. You do not want a wound on your foot 🦶 The heat and humidity are a breeding ground for bacteria. Plus there are are snakes and tarantulas!

🥤 Water: Whatever you think is a good amount, double that! Even then you'll probably think your dieing.

🐆 Jaguars: The least of your worries, as they aren't famous for attacking humans. But if you by chance run into one back away slowly, don't look at it in the eye and whatever you do don't run!

❄️ Favorite Easy Winter Hikes 📍South Okanagan
(𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴)

I have to admit I am not a big fan of winter hiking. I am much prefer being warm and in a tank top 🎽

𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 ❔

BUT getting your arse outside is important so here is a list of my go-to hikes that are relatively flat and easy to hike all year long:

🔹Kettle Valley Rail Trail
🔹Mahoney Lake Ecological Reserve
🔹Trout Creek (Park off Highway 97 and walk up the creek)

Add this is your Bucket List 👌 (𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴)

Even if your Canadian 🇨🇦 It is only a 16 hour drive!

🗓️ When to visit: Since this place is a desert you can visit anytime, but I do not recommend the summer as the temperatures are insane 🥵

⛺ Where to stay: Camping is not allowed on the flats, but there are a number of RV parks and hotels in the town of Wendover. Wendover KOA Journey RV Park or Quality Inn Stateline hotel to name a few!

DO NOT drive on the flats. Stick to the road. Your vehicle can easily get stuck as some sections are thick salty mud.

📍 Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah (near the state line of Nevada)

Favorite Rest Stops 🛣️ Highway #3 📍British Columbia

We all know rest stops can be nasty and I mean nasty 💩 Over the years we have been to many of them. Some of them are straight out of a horror movie 😱 and some are absolutely stop worthy.

Thats why we have put together our favorites on Highway #3. For the people who are not from British Columbia 🇨🇦 this is the main highway that borders the USA 🇺🇲

▪️ Hope Slide Lookout: This spot is where the second largest landslide happened. Basically half the mountain came crashing down. It is a crazy site to see.

▪️Bromley Rock: This spot is a secret paradise and has a cliff for those daredevils who want to jump off into the river.

▪️Anarchist Mountain Lookout: This spot can be tricky as there is only room for 3-4 cars, but the views are 😍

▪️Wilgress Lake Rest Area: Pictured above. This rest stop is at the cutest little lake. No motor boats are allowed on the lake, so it is always calm and peaceful. Plus there is an abandoned cabin on the other side that I have been eyeing 👀

Bucket List Hikes with a View 📍West/Central Kootenays ('𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗲' 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴)

🗓️ When to visit: Anytime between May - October. The winter months in the Kootenays are cold and snowy. I don't recommend hikes at this time unless you are very experienced and enjoy freezing your butt off 😂

These trails are steep and hard but the pay off is well worth it!

10 Bucket List Waterfalls 📍 Vancouver Island ('𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗲' 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴)

📅 When to Visit: These waterfalls look beautiful all year long but our favorite time is during the summer months. If you visit at any other time remember to bring rain gear as Vancouver Island gets a ton of rain 🌧️ If you need some new gear check out (pictured). It is my absolute favorite fall sweater and I have been rocking it on the daily!
