I had a blast directing this hilarious and sometimes moving comedy with Luke Lawrence and our amazing team. We've been getting great feedback as we venture out this summer.

Tonight we're in Trinity at the Rising Tide Theatre for a screening. Great pre-sales on the tickets so we're expecting a wonderful night. The movie starts promptly at 7 pm, then we have a Q&A with Michelle Rex Bailey and Luke and I.

After the screening, Luke will be joined by Paul Thompson and Paul Warford for a comedy show at Rocky's. $10 on the door there.

Who knows what might break out after all that? We'll be at the bar so there might be something!

Hey FB Friends in the Trinity Bight area! Party Pirate is coming to you on SUNDAY, JULY 21 at 7pm

Pardon the long post, but it means a lot to me.

As many of you know, I've lived and spent lots of time in almost every community in the Bight and have had a place in New Bonaventure for almost 25 years (it's hard to believe) Luke spent almost all of his summers there until he graduated school. So when we made a movie together, one of our dreams was to share it with people we love and adore. It's my second movie (if you haven't seen the first, Little Orphans, you can watch it for free on Tubi) but the first time I'll get to experience a movie with the audience because the first one came out during the lockdowns. That was so hard, not knowing what folks thought of it.

Party Pirate -Movie is a very funny comedy with a lot of feeling and understanding. You'll see what I mean when you watch it. It doesn't pull back on the laughs but it also hits you in the heart sometimes too. Most of us have felt like our lead character, Tommy, at some point! It's based on a true story too, the opening sequence is actually all home video. Without giving too much away here, you're in for a treat.

We're bringing it to Rising Tide Theatre, where I have worked for many, many years since 1993. We'd love it if you came out to enjoy it with us. Please buy your tickets in advance, there is nothing worse than heading out on a tour and not knowing who is planning to see it. I've learned that from years of touring this province.

Follow the link to secure tickets to the 7pm screening and a talkback with Ruth, Luke, and Port Rexton's Michelle Rex Bailey who is hilarious in the movie. It's $16 and if no one laughs while you're in the theatre, I'll personally pay you back.

You can't buy online there, you have to call 1.888.464.3377 (Toll-Free) or 1.709.464.3232 to book tickets. Chat to one of our amazing box office staff, they'll take care of you. Port Rexton Brewing is doing a bar takeover, there will be concessions so it'll feel just like being in a cinema.

AND if you want the laughs to keep going, you can head to the 9pm comedy show at Rocky’s Place afterwards. Featuring Luke Lawrence, Paul Thompson, and Paul Warford, this will be an awesome night of laughs!

Comedy Show at Rocky’s Place 9pm, $10 cash at the door

Friends in the Harbour Breton area, we're doing a tour of Party Pirate -Movie and I'm trying to figure out where might be the best place to have a movie screening there. Our date would be July 26. Is that a good time and would folks come out to see it? Any input would be appreciated. Please tag folks you know there who can help me figure it out. Thanks!

NIGHT TWO of Party Pirate -Movie is on tonight at the Hall. Thanks to everyone who came out last night. If you're coming tonight, remember that the screening starts at 7 pm sharp!

There are still a few tix left but get them today if you can, through the LSPU Hall Box office.

We had a lot of latecomers coming until 730 last night and we want to make sure it's a great experience where you see ALL of the movie. (And a big crowd bought tix but didn't make it at all, thanks for the support!)

Parking is limited but available downtown, the Hall has the BLUEDROP parking on Prescott St, just north of Duckworth St. and if you arrive downtown early enough to park, get your tickets at the box office, you might have time to get a beverage at their bar! Arriving by 630 should get you through and upstairs in time.

If you miss it in St. John's there's screenings across the province and more to be added soon.

Hey friends, I'm planning a screening tour of Party Pirate -Movie this summer and I'm wondering where it's feasible to play it.

My last movie was released during the first pandemic lockdown and by the time most folks were ready to head into a movie theatre, it was long gone (but it's now on TUBI, go look for Little Orphans)

Ideally, we would not have to bring our own screen or projector. That requires a projection/tech team and although I have done that when I worked with the film festival, it's a challenge for me if anything tricky happens on the technical side. (But I'm not ruling it out!)

Party Pirate is a great summer comedy and I want folks to come together to see it.

Put your suggestions in the comments and I'll do my best to follow up and get it to you in the next couple of months.

I'm delighted to be back on the board for WIFT-Atlantic but sad to be missing the Women Making Waves Conference in Halifax this weekend.

BUT, we've got a wonderful fundraiser where you can get some great prizes (including an audition taping session with Renée Hackett and I, at your service) while supporting this great women's film organization.

The catalog for our first online Making Waves auction is now live for viewing, and bidding officially opened on April 12.

There's something for everyone in every province. Thank you for having a look and making a bid, it all makes a huge difference.

I'd love your help in making it a success, please go check out the auction catalog, share it to your networks, and tell people you know directly about specific items in the catalog that you think would interest them!

A huge thanks to Jenina MacGillivray Renée Hackett Luke Lawrence and all the folks at St Clare’s emergency who got me wrapped up in a cast and home within 90 minutes.
I’ve just taken a painkiller, jenina is feeding me, and I’m waiting to feel a lot better !

We' re looking for some food donations for Women's Work Festival next week.

Each night from Thursday Feb 29 to Sunday Mar 3, we have a public reading that starts at 7 pm. Because it's generally cold out AND our participants have been going from event to event all day, we like to offer them a hot bowl of soup, stew, chili, etc.

During the days, we have Coffee Chats, Writing Salons, Workshops, Special Performances.

We're looking for 2 donations of hot food (something that does well in a slow cooker to keep it warm) each night. If you're a good cook who would like to share your amazing skills, we would LOVE to hear from you.

Also if you have treats, baked goods, granola bars, other goodies that you'd like to share, we'd love that too.

Coffee, Tea, Hot Chocolate, crackers, cheese etc are all welcome.

Our Volunteer Coordinator Vanessa Cardoso Artista is helping us organize and collect so you can send us a message or comment below and we'll be in touch to get the details!

Thanks to Ann Connors Consulting Agency and Blue Pinion Films for sponsoring two of our Coffee Chats already with a $100 donation each. It's MUCH appreciated!!!

Last August, we collaborated with Zoe Cleland and Katherine Wilson of Sweet Sorrow Productions to produce . Here's a lovely article about the short film, coming to festivals this fall.

Zoe Cleland says her biggest disappointment when she filmed her debut film, Blueberries for Iris, is that there was no foggy weather in Bradley's Cove, Conception Bay. She shot the atmospheric short film in the resettled community by Western Bay, a place she knows intimately.
