TEDx Oshawa - Host, Co-Organizer, MC... Faris Siddiqui
Great job by TEDxOshawa putting on their first TEDx event and what a great show they put on... An amazing line-up of speakers, great ideas worth sharing, and a great venue Biltmore Theatre. Can't wait to see it again next year! Congrats to all! ๐๐๐
Want to attend this year's TEDx Oshawa Event? We're giving away a pair of tickets for the June 8th event. All you have to do is sign up for our weekly newsletter to be entered in the draw happening on Friday, June 7th @ 5:00 pm. https://www.durhamlife.ca/#/portal/signup
Faris Siddiqui is one of the Co-Event Organizers for TEDxOshawa. Along with his good friend Chad Andress, they have assembled a team to successfully launch this edition of TEDx Oshawa. While there have been two previous TEDx events in Oshawa, they were only one-off occasions. This team has a long-term vision to establish this edition as an annual event.
In this episode of โIn Conversation with the Changemakers of Durham Region,โ Faris takes us behind the scenes in preparation for the event.
You can read the full post on our website:
https://www.durhamlife.ca/tedx-oshawa-2024-exclusive-interviews/
What I found most impressive about Faris is his dedication to community service, which has led him to engage in organizing community activities and culminated in his current role as the Co-Event Organizer of TEDx Oshawa. But most importantly, it has compelled him to change his career path from one in Business/Marketing to becoming a firefighter and serving the community at large. Very impressive for a young man in his twenties.
TEDx Oshawa is in good hands.
If you are still debating about attending this year's TEDx Oshawa event, I hope this conversation with Faris Siddiqui will send you to the ticket wicket!

Clarington Polar Bear Swim 2022
๐ New Year's Day was a great day at the Bond Head Beach in the Newcastle waterfront. It was the annual ๐ปโโ๏ธ Clarington Polar Bear Swim. ๐ปโโ๏ธ
๐๐ฝ ๐๐ฟ ๐๐ป Over 180 swimmers braved the frigid waters ๐ฅถ and raised over ๐ฐ $16,000 for Autism Home Base (AHB). With a Community Hub in Bowmanville, AHB serves autistic adults and their families in Durham Region and Peterborough.
[Please note: As a tribute to all the swimmers who participated in this event, we also have a longer video on YouTube that includes all of you! See Comments for link. Thanks to all of you for making this event a huge success!]
The event is organized by the family of Hollylynn Towie to support her memorial fund and provide funding for AHB programs.
The AHB helps their members discover new interests, community engagement, build friendships, and develop lifelong supports.
Autism Home Base families work together to create opportunities to explore new interests in a supportive environment among peers. Members are the drivers behind the growth and success of their grassroots organization.
You can help Autism Home Base in a number of ways.
Visit https://autismhomebase.com/ for more info.
Special mention to Drozwik Drones for getting the aerial shots. Thanks Alex!
