There was no official announcement from the Ontario Government, but yes, youth aged 12-17 are now eligible for a fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at a recommended interval of six months or a minimum interval of three months. A vaccine clinic for those who are 12 years of age or older is available at Peterborough Square on Friday. Book an appointment now: Ontario.ca/BookVaccine

It’s October! Do you know what that means?! Beautiful fall colours, pumpkin spiced lattes, hockey begins… oh! And you can get a bivalent COVID-19 vaccine! Yes, individuals 18 years of age or older can now receive a bivalent COVID-19 vaccine at least three months after receiving a previous booster dose; however, it’s recommended that individuals receive a bivalent COVID-19 vaccine six months after receiving a previous booster dose ( https://www.ontario.ca/page/covid-19-vaccines?gclid=CjwKCAjws--ZBhAXEiwAv-RNL5OhHQF0D879TWLwQvBG_UNW19SsDXaXcprP34w_XIps0vYWV2xyVBoCR10QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds -2 ). Bivalent COVID-19 vaccine appointments are available at Peterborough Square (Ontario.ca/BookVaccine), and local pharmacies (linktr.ee/covid19ptbo).

Note: When booking an appointment at a pharmacy, ensure that you choose the “bivalent vaccine” option.

COVID-19 update: If you were at the Peterborough Lakers game last week, I’d recommend that you monitor yourself for COVID-19 symptoms. According to a source, many people looking for non-ER care have reportedly contracted COVID-19 after attending the Lakers game. There doesn’t appear to be an increase in wastewater viral load; however, PCR test case counts and hospitalizations have both increased, since last week, according to PPH’s COVID-19 dashboard.

“Ontario’s chief medical officer has denied a request by local public health officials to resume mandatory masking in schools, pharmacies or other workplaces, saying it is not necessary at this time.

Earlier this month, local medical officers of health from Niagara, Windsor-Essex and Peterborough asked Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kieran Moore to reinstate the mandatory mask order in a variety of settings including schools, stores and workplaces, saying hospitalizations were already forcing the cancellation of scheduled surgeries at hospitals in their regions.” https://www.cp24.com/mobile/news/ontario-chief-medical-officer-denies-local-request-to-reinstate-mandatory-masking-in-schools-1.5900508

Here’s the updated list of businesses in that are still requiring patrons to wear masks.

Someone commented that they think Ashburnham Ale House requires masks, but they aren’t 100% sure. I also thought I saw something about that, but am not sure. Can anyone confirm?

According to PPH’s dashboard, there is a pretty large outbreak at a long-term care home (although, it’s unclear which LTC home). In the May 2nd report, there were a total of 289 cases linked to LTC outbreaks. In today’s report, there were a total of 397 cases linked to LTC outbreaks (+108 cases). I hope that within the next couple of days, this information will be available in the Ontario database or on the affected LTC home website. https://www.instagram.com/p/CdKLm5kuP1_/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

Update on this ⬆️: From Centennial Place Long-Term Care Home: “Unfortunately, the COVID outbreak at Centennial Place continues. In fact, we have experienced a rather large surge in cases in two of our home areas.”
