REL-MAR McConnell Media Company – Transcript The ‘X’ Zone Radio/TV Show – Thursday, August 28, 2025 Happy Retirement Gord - Segment 1- 00:00.00 – 06:23.385

“Here on The ‘X’ Zone Radio Show, while we broadcast internationally to listeners across Canada, the United States, and around the world, right here on your Home Town Radio, Classic 1220 AM – CFAJ from our broadcast studios in St. Catharines, Ontario, it’s important to take time to celebrate the people in our own community who make a lasting difference in our daily lives.

Today, we celebrate Gord, the manager of Shoppers Drug Mart at 125 Carlton Street here in St. Catharines, who is retiring after beginning his career with Shoppers Drug Mart back in 1978. Now, let’s take a moment to remember what Canada looked like when Gord first put on his Shopper’s Drug Mart badge.

In 1978, Pierre Elliott Trudeau was our Prime Minister.

The Toronto Blue Jays had just played their second Major League Baseball season.

Terry Fox was training quietly for what would become his heroic Marathon of Hope.

Anne Murray was topping the music charts, and Canadians were gathering around their TVs to watch Hockey Night in Canada, cheering on legends like Guy Lafleur and the Montreal Canadiens, who would go on to the Stanley Cup that year.

Through all those decades of Canadian history, Gord has been a constant with kindness, professionalism, and a friendly smile at Shoppers Drug Mart.

His leadership and dedication, along with the entire Shoppers team, have made that store a true pillar of the community.

On behalf of all the friendly and dedicated staff at Shoppers Drug Mart, the friends you have made, the customers that you have helped, everyone here at The ‘X’ Zone Radio/TV Show, my wife Laura and myself, Gord, we all want to thank you.

Thank you for always being there for our family, and for families in St. Catharines that have met you, and have been customers at your Shoppers Drug Mart in the Lake and Carlton Plaza.

Gord, as you step into retirement after nearly half a century of service, we all wish you nothing but health, happiness, and well-earned relaxation.

Gord, congratulations on an extraordinary career — and thank you for being part of our lives since 1978.”

Don't be fooled by all the talk that Trump is spewing out about the "ALASKA SUMMIT" and why the President of the United States (a very pathetic excuse of a human being that Trump is (and let's not forget pe*****le) wanted to have a one-on-one meeting with Putin in Alaska was NOT to try and end the war in Ukraine, but is that he (Trump) missed his Puppet Master Putin.

REMEMBER:

International Criminal Court (ICC) Arrest Warrant

• On March 17, 2023, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin. He is accused of the war crime of unlawful deportation and transfer of Ukrainian children from occupied areas of Ukraine into Russia—an act flagged under Articles 8(2)(a)(vii) and 8(2)(b)(viii) of the Rome Statute.
• This landmark warrant marked the first time the ICC issued an arrest warrant for a head of state who is also a permanent member of the UN Security Council .
• The ICC’s prosecutor, Karim Ahmad Khan, formally requested the warrant on February 22, 2023, citing credible evidence of crime and noting that Putin had signed decrees facilitating the citizenship of deported children.
• Russia rejects the legitimacy of the ICC, having withdrawn from the Rome Statute in 2016, meaning any warrant is not enforceable within its territory.
Enforcement Challenges & Consequences
• The ICC depends on its 125 member states to enforce arrest warrants. Putin is thus subject to arrest in any of these jurisdictions—but safe passage is virtually impossible.
• In June 2025, Russia announced Putin would not attend the BRICS summit in Brazil due to the risk of arrest under ICC obligations. He instead participated via video link.
• As of August 2025, Putin was reportedly considering travel—potentially to meet President Trump in a neutral, non-ICC country (like the UAE)—but any trip to ICC member states remains highly risky.

Other Legal or Political Moves

• Inside Russia, there was a brief municipal-level initiative in September 2022 where local council deputies in St. Petersburg and Moscow called for charges of treason against Putin—pointing to military mishandling and economic damage. However, authorities quickly suppressed the initiatives and dissolved the.
• The more serious international effort remains the ICC warrant; there's no court proceeding under way against Putin in any domestic Russian court.

When President Donald Trump proudly displays a ball cap declaring his intent to remain in power in 2028—with or without an election—it should send shockwaves across the entire political spectrum, Republican and Democrat alike. If this doesn't raise red flags nationwide, I truly don’t know what will.

This is a man who sees himself as a legend in his own mind, a delusional figure who continues to spread lies, threats, and absurd fantasies—including the laughable and offensive idea that Canada will somehow become the 51st state of what was once the great United States of America.

Let me be perfectly clear: we Canadians want nothing to do with Trump—his chaos, his misinformation, his bullying, or his dangerously unstable ambitions. We are a proud, sovereign nation with a history of resilience—remember, we beat the United States in the War of 1812, and if need be, we will defend our borders and our values again. An attack on Canada is an attack on our allies and NATO partners.

Trump’s behavior not only violates the spirit of democracy, it actively threatens it. The U.S. Constitution explicitly forbids a third presidential term, yet his ongoing rhetoric—and actions—suggest he may attempt to cling to power regardless. Based on his history, I would not be surprised if those involved in the January 6th insurrection are quietly regrouping under his command, training like a private army reminiscent of the SS under Hi**er.

Let that sink in.

Medical professionals, political analysts, and concerned citizens alike have raised the alarm: Donald Trump is a dangerous, unhinged individual who dwells in a fantasy world, part dictator, part demagogue, wholly detached from reality. His delusions of grandeur and authoritarian tendencies pose a grave threat not only to the United States but to global stability.

I can only hope that either divine intervention or a political reckoning removes him from the spotlight before it's too late—before his ego and paranoia lead the world toward the unthinkable: a nuclear catastrophe triggered by a man who believes himself above all law and reason.

The world is watching. May America choose wisely.

Doug Ford to crack down on homeless encampments with fines for drug use and more funding

Amid rising homelessness and an explosion of tent encampments in parks, Premier Doug Ford will earmark an additional $75.5 million for shelters and affordable housing — and toughen up trespassing laws.

“Enough is enough. This has to stop and it will stop. Families deserve to play in and enjoy their parks without fearing for the safety of their kids,” Ford said Thursday as critics warned he’s criminalizing homelessness, which has grown worse under his watch.

“These encampments are taking over public spaces with illegal drug use happening out in the open, creating huge safety risks for people and communities,” said the premier.

His comments came on the final day of the legislative session as the Progressive Conservatives introduced changes that will immediately give municipalities more money for shelter and services for homeless people.

But the legislation to give police more power to punish scofflaws would not be in force until next the spring at the earliest.

Pressure has been mounting on Ford to act because encampments have spread throughout the province and many mayors — and constituents — have appealed to him for help.

Joan Prowse, chair of the Bathurst Quay Neighbourhood Association, said she doesn’t support taking a hard line or resorting to some of the tactics Ford has proposed, like invoking the notwithstanding clause to override legal hurdles that would prevent the removal of tents from parks.

“We need to be fair to people in the parks who don’t have anywhere to go, but at the same time, we have people living in buildings that are having break-ins, or their kids can’t play in the park,” said Prowse.

The city recently promised more outreach to help people living in the encampment near Little Norway Park, in Prowse’s neighbourhood, to access better shelter options.

“That’s the way to go, not just recklessly clearing them out,” said Prowse.

Municipalities will have to start tracking how many homeless people are moved from encampments into new accommodations and report that to the province to justify how the funds are being spent.

“We want to help people, we don’t want to punish people,” the premier said at a Queen’s Park press conference where he announced amendments to the Trespass to Property Act.

With the government extending the legislature’s winter break by two weeks — meaning MPPs won’t return until March 3 — the proposed legislation on new powers would not go to a final vote for weeks after that.

Liberal Leader Bonnie dismissed the plan as “political grandstanding.”

“When we come back, we will likely be going to an election,” said Crombie.

Andrew Boozary, a physician and professor at the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health, noted incarcerating someone costs triple the monthly amount of operating a single supportive housing unit.

“Housing is a matter of human dignity and sound health economics,” said Boozary.
