Grieving My Own Loss

This man right here was a work of art
That some can’t disagree
He could detect a lie and make you shake
From your head right to your knees!

He had a heart as large as the moon
and would protect everyone he loved
But never get on his bad side I will say,
You’d be wondering what he thinks of!

A straight shooter, a loyal and fierce man he was,
His devotion to his fighters never wavering,
Leaving me jealous at times Id miss out on moments
But damnit I’d take every moment that I was given!

Because as much as he was there for me,
Through the humility, good times and pain,
I feel I also gave back that honour and pride
He witnessed right to the end!

I’d sit by that ring and watch him work
And it was magic before my eyes
Dressed up in my finest outfits to see
Him watch me walk in with pride

Classy is what we always put forward
Know when to shut your mouth
Because as much as we thought we understood the world
He knew what those streets were about

When I see this photo I see that man,
A dad - a husband and a boss
to this day I still represent
The legacy of the Melich cause!

We are Strong, Hungarian with Slovak blood, Balkans And Maltese
We will walk through life even without you
Never staying down on our knees!

The world ended, a part of me left
The moment god called you home
I truly have never felt such shock
Angry, confused and alone!

But this man here, this handsome guy
Lived his life thriving off stress
I know it’s what you taught me dad
But Lord knows I’m still a mess!

I ask myself “why do I cry”
You were sick and it took you fast
Do we cry because we wanted them to still be
In pain just so they last?

So from this year moving forward

My personality confuses people;

I am so kind and sweet yet can rip someone to shreds with unleashed wrath,
I can be so stressed and unable to focus yet accomplish everything with a smile,
I will stop to help a hurt field mouse and risk my life for any animal, but humans I can’t feel as much,
I don’t see my family often but I would risk my life to defend any of them,
I have a moral code I follow of loyalty to death yet I can’t understand where it was lost in the world… am I crazy or just belong in the 1950s?
I look up to women of all types and some of the craftiest monsters…yet I still treat a homeless person better than the CEO,
I believe in 1000 chances for those hurting fighting demons and not one for someone who misplaced loyalty,
I understand why hurt people hurt people-and can forgive if I know their story….
At the end of the day…my life evolves around protection…
Protecting my family, my lover and animals to the point of my last breath,
I’d live in a box if it meant my last dollar saved my fur baby,
Lost all faith in humanity until I met the freedom fighters,
I love hard and hurt hard, but I won’t put those walls back up,
I found happiness because I have known death while being alive,
Realized gratitude when I was on my knees and my world was ripped apart,
Guilt has killed me and I returned..
And I still am full of love - fight - resilience and honour…
And I found LOVE ❤️
A box of chocolates I am. But if you are in my tiny circle- I’d burn the world down for you!

To all of the family members trying to pack down the hardest pain ever felt to still act jolly and joyful while crying in the shower missing someone so very special… I FEEL YOU AND HEAR YOU 🖤
To all who had no motivation to put up a Christmas Tree because it reminds you of sitting around that tree with your loved ones no longer with us… I FEEL YOU AND HEAR YOU 🖤

We read and hear “everyone deals with Grief in different ways”, but I’m not sure we truly digest the depths of that until we are personally stung by a loss so close, you feel a part of yourself has left with them.
I know I felt that way losing my Grandmother who was like a mother, then losing my dad - oh man- being stung is not the word.
I was waiting for a reason to burn down the world around me, just one little tipping of the scale, one wrong look…one miss-treatment, oh, I had a lot of emotions I felt needed to be unleashed and I don’t know why I felt that I was going to get a bit of that person back once I did . 🔥
I know, my father never would’ve wanted me stunted for two years in anger, and resentment, and wrath, and misery, losing my whole sense of self, until I became a shell of whoever it was that I clawed my way through life to become that made him so proud.
Ohhhh Grief does hit in So many different ways, and I don’t know how to tell you to not let it become anger, coming from a spiritual person, so very spiritual that tells people all of the time “do not become your emotions let them move through you, feel them, but do not ever become them, and do not let them become you”.
Two years later, I am still not my whole self.
I don’t think you ever will be once you lose a parent, but the only advice I can give is they definitely would not want us to live the rest of our life, angry, they would want us to celebrate the life we have left just like they would have, like they fought to try to hang onto.
So f**k anger, and MORE kindness, don’t forget compassion, patience, laughter, love….. most of all for yourself.🖤 It’s going to be a long road, it doesn’t hurt less, but it gets easier 🙏🏼

𝑵𝑶 that will not own my whole being this month!
After the year I have 𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒅, I will not dwell on the ones who are in a better place. I will 𝒉𝒐𝒏𝒐𝒖𝒓 their memory by living out my 𝒃𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆!
𝑫𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓 has brought an overwhelming feeling of wanting to have the best people around my table to 𝒄𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆 our achievements! 🥂

I bought a deck of cards for inspiration many moons back, and it was the Four Agreements. To pull a card each day at work and reflect!
How enlightening this was, reflecting was an understatement-changing your perspective can alter your entire life!
What may be seen as negative impacts become lessons and opportunities, experiences and moments to not speak-But listen…
I found that deck of cards not long ago, and it’s time to start pulling from the deck again!
One day at a time, one teacher at a time, one BREATH at a time!

Worrying takes away the best days away from us, I am so guilty of this. Not sure if it’s being an over-thinker, I used to think it was possibly “single mom syndrome” - always being in survival mode…. Afraid of anything around me falling apart.
The more I look around and hear others stories, I realize I am not alone in this!
Focusing on today and what is here and now, is so much easier said than done but I have been there and been able to do that, until trauma hit!
Now the goal is, how do I reset my mind? Back to acceptance and gratitude, away from survival and fear.
