Today is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

One year ago we released a 2-part episode designed to demonstrate a gentle approach to the conversation surrounding the history of the Indigenous Community and the struggles that they have faced. Our guest, Madelaine McCracken, shares knowledge that should be widespread and offers advice on how to self learn about the topic and how you can take progressive action towards reconciliation.

- The inside scoop on Student Unions: What they do and why you should care

- Where do your student fees go?

- How and why to have a solution based mindset

Part 2 covers:

- The impact of the Residential School findings on the Indigenous Community

- The ongoing issues of power, suppression and ethical relationally

- How to advocate with and for First Nations Metis & Inuit peoples to our Government

- How to approach the conversations surrounding Indigenous History in a trauma informed way

- What is The Truth & Reconciliation Commission of Canada and how did it start?

- Understanding Canada's role in the history of Residential Schools. Who is responsible and how can we take action to help move into a state of Truth and Reconciliation?

- What you should do in addition to post sharing on Social Media and why it would be helpful.

- The importance of Content & Trigger Warnings

- Why Orange Shirt Day Came to be and what it's all about

We got a lovely care package from our friend Kelsey Richard, full of goodies from Collective Arts Brewing.

We thought what time is better than St. Pat’s to very poorly execute a tasting with our limited knowledge on beer. Thankfully we were saved halfway through by real life beer sommelier, Bartender Matt.

Moral of this video: Anyone with any interest in drinking will definitely be able to find something that they enjoy from Collective Arts, so check them out!

Thanks to Kelsey for this awesome care package! If anyone wants to know how Kelsey’s multiple career changes in her twenties led her to being the Artist Liaison for Collective Arts, listen to our episode called ‘Finding A Career You Love’ on your favourite streaming platform.

Also, shout out to The Beerists Podcast - you do tastings really welll, and we don’t. Let’s collab!
