For those asking what Humberstone was like yesterday, I took this picture during one of the heat races.

I really, really hate to be critical of race tracks, especially one that’s closing for good, but what we witnessed at Humberstone tonight just isn’t good enough. Someone has to say it: 6 classes with no track work, the place was a complete dust bowl and unsafe. There’s grass and weeds growing up through the speedway already. Clearly nothing has been done to get it ready for the races.
Plus, you start the late model feature at 10:45pm. Some of those guys have travelled as far away as Cornwall. You can’t do that to people. I hate to say it but I think I’ve been to Humberstone for the last time. If you’re not going to do track work, you can’t have 6 classes. Cut it down to 3 and let everyone get out of there safely.
I’m sad that Humberstone is closing, but if we can’t put on a safe race, we shouldn’t be racing there at all.
