Out of all the presents I've ever gifted my father, the Chinese Calligraphy card I painted was the first time I saw him light up in pride.
In China, Calligraphy art is the Van Gogh of the art world, put simply, in ancient and modern China, being a talented calligraphist is a flex.
However, I am no Funkmaster Flex in this arena.
But dabbling in Chinese Calligraphy forced me to confront my perfectionism head on. Because once you paint a stroke, you can't take it back, I was literally forced to embrace any mistake.

When I first started therapy, I thought, “10-20 sessions and I’ll be healed.” 😅 I clearly knew nothing about anything at all.
5 years later, I use therapy not as a tool to "fix my past", but it’s my outlet for frustrations, a guide for everyday challenges, and a lifeline when I need clarity. I use to go once a week (I need that healing ASAP) but now I choose to go once a month.
A lot of my wins in therapy are unseen:
💛 Self-soothing after getting trauma-triggered.
💛 Patience with my family.
💛 Picking myself up after bad days when I’d spiral downwards before.
💛 Opening my heart again after heartbreak.
💛 Facing my fears to build the life I have today.
Most people think therapy is just an hour of advice. But it’s not about a therapist telling you what to do—it’s about helping you help yourself.
How I prep for therapy:
✅ Pay in advance so I don’t stress later.
✅ Grab water & tissues (just in case 🥲).
✅ Choose a quiet spot with no distractions.
✅ Use good headphones & keep my notebook nearby.
✅ Bring something grounding—I love my @jellycat plushy.
