MIDLAND,ON) Police are requesting that the public be aware that efforts continue to locate the vulnerable male, "Eric" who was reported missing yesterday afternoon.
Residents of the east side of Midland, into Tay Township, can expect a heavy police presence as the search continues. Members of the OPP Central Region Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit and Marine Unit are being assisted by the Georgian Bay Volunteer Search and Rescue Unit in attempts to locate the elderly male.
Police are requesting that residents of the area check on their properties including outbuildings and overgrowth areas. Should your home be equipped with a surveillance camera, you are encouraged to check footage taken anytime after 10 a.m. on July 30, 2024. He was last seen leaving his residence on Pillsbury Drive, Midland, on foot at 10 a.m.. The male is describes as being 86 years of age, Caucasian, thin build with white hair and a white moustache. (see attached photo)
Investigators are asking that anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of this missing person to contact OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Classic Troubadours Productions brings you ‘The Songs of Peter Gabriel and Sting’, a celebration of the most iconic songs by these two creative giants, including In Your Eyes, Don’t Give Up, Solsbury Hill, Carpet Crawlers, Fields of Gold, Roxanne, Message in a Bottle, Seven Days and much, much more!! Jacob Moon, Mike Ferfolia, Selena Evangeline, Rob Brown and Jake Payne will thrill you with their energetic and nuanced renderings of some of the most treasured songs in the modern rock canon.

Jacob Moon has released 12 albums of his own music and performed for RUSH and Gordon Lightfoot. He heads up Classic Troubadours Live: The Songs of James, Joni, Jackson & Carole. Mike Ferfolia (who sings just like Sting and plays the bass) performs in his own Sting Tribute band, ‘Sounds of Sting’ and has brought his wealth of experience and a passion for this music to this collaborative show. Mike performs all across the country and into the US with some of the leading touring acts, like Hotel California and others.

Selena Evangeline has released several records under her own name and has been featured in TV and radio. She can also be seen on tour backing up artists like Amanda Marshall and Johnny Reid.

Yesterday evening Grey County Paramedic Services responded to a call that someone accidentally drove into the Meaford harbour. Fortunately for the driver, four instructors from the sailing school and another bystander quickly dove into the water and grabbed hammers to break the window and pull the driver to safety. No doubt this quick and heroic action saved her life. Thank you to good Samaritans Kyle Gilas, Nathan Brand, Griffin Dauphinee, Ilian Malibertsma, and Becca Vail (not in photo) for your bravery!

UPDATED AT 5:10 p.m. on Monday, July 29:

The Natural Gas leak has been isolated and repair to the line has begun. All residents have now returned to the evacuated homes.

Gas services will be restored in select areas through out the evening. Electricity has restored to the area impacted by the disconnections.

Crews have the neighbourhood evacuated at this time and have made residents aware it will be approximately two hours before they will be allowed to return to their homes. There is a significant odour of Natural Gas in the widespread area. Natural Gas customers in approximately 50% of the City will be without gas service for an undetermined length of time. Hydro One is also on scene at this time disconnecting and isolating electrical services in the area. No restoration time of electricity is available currently. No injuries occurred as a result of the gas leak.

Evacuated residents are welcome to go to the Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library as a cooling centre and await notification from Owen Sound Fire and Emergency Services when they can return to their homes.
