The art of auditioning is one of the most critical things an actor can learn. But having a successful audition is not about talent alone or some formula that an actor learns. It’s about focusing on some key aspects in the process and ensuring an actor delivers on those elements to have a successful audition.

“The Audition isn’t to see who can act the scene the best. It’s to see who has the best idea for how to act the scene”
Some of the key qualities that people who are casting look for are; an actor who has focus and dedication to always improving themselves within the art of acting.

Mastering how to make bold choices and deliver a strong audition is absolutely essential for all actors. Your audition is the first in-person impression that a casting director or casting team gets to have of your talent and acting ability. In these few moments, it is your opportunity to show them your skills, acting ability, professionalism, and your understanding of the role.
Having a successful standout audition can be the key to setting you apart from other actors. With a few key points, you can change your auditions and significantly increase your chances of being cast.
Actors are in a competitive industry; every little edge can be the difference of being cast. An actor who comes to an audition prepared and able to perform and execute a successful audition has a higher chance of nailing their audition and landing the role.

INTRO TO IMPROV WORKSHOP
SATURDAY JUNE 1st, 2024 – 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm

295 Rectory Street, London, ON N5Z 0A3, Canada

This workshop is hosted by IFilmGroup and is an introduction to the art of improvisation. Workshop will be lead by Crystal Crawley and Rob Verkest.

One of the most important skills for an actor is the ability to adapt to any situation and react accordingly. Whether you're auditioning for a role, performing on stage, or working on set, you never know what might happen or what might be asked of you. Improv teaches you how to be flexible, creative, and spontaneous.

Within this workshop, we the creative team, embrace the art of play in a spontaneous fashion and allow all who attend to freely without judgement, act out.

Improvisation: words/dialogue are not written down; actors use words and actions to interact with each other to make sense of who they are and what they are doing in a scene with little to no rehearsal time.

Participants need to come to the workshop ready to play and have a willingness to say “Yes-and!” To build the story and allow creativity to take over in the moment.

If interested in this workshop please reserve a spot by contacting [email protected].

Participants can pay at the door of the workshop, or can pay through e-transfer when participant emails to reserve a spot.
Please note a participant’s spot is not guaranteed unless the spot is paid for in advance. Those paying at the door will be taken in the order they arrive. Once the workshop is full to maximum capacity no further participants will be accepted.
